This I agree with! If you can't do all the testing at least get the first group of tests done ABSOLUTELY before breeding! The first 3 tests are and would be the #1 priority first and then start on the other tests! But always know your pedigrees that's a must as well!

Please don't take breeding lightly! :) It's a HUGE responsiblity. Not only are the tests important you have to have a good representation of the breed that conforms to the breed standard. Go to the YTCA.org website read the standard and study pedigrees before breeding. Research and research some more! It's very important to research all you can and have the best representation of the breed as possible with health as the top priority.

This is NOT true!
To be a responsible breeder these tests should be done on all dogs that will be used for breeding: Even healthy dogs can pass on poor genes with health issues. Why would you want to take a chance when proper testing can clear them for responsible breeding?

These I feel ought to be done on every adult dog before being bred:

A very careful and thorough physical exam by vet
Complete Blood Panel
Bile Acid Test
Brucellosis Test (every time before breeding)

And these are the Health certifications available. It's very impressive to me when a breeder goes further than the basic health testing I mentioned above and gets their dogs certified for any of these things. If I ever decide to show and breed, I'd probably look into most of these for my dogs.
