You know of any good Hog Hunting locations in SE TX? Now I hunt in Corsicana, but am open to new locations. Why there are more Hogs than Dogs in TX.

Not much point in anyone wasting their time with this one. The web site is pathetic and I can't imagine anyone that knows or cares anything about finding a reputable breeder giving it a second look. APRI champion....really now? :yelrotflm

I wasn't going to post but Sue, no one is attacking them. Their webiste is what represents their business, and us YTers through good and bad experiences have pulled together to let each other know what would be a red flag and reasons to stay away from a breeder. 41 puppies is A LOT. If they are raised in home, as a puppy should be, that is way to many mouths for one family to feed and way to many bodies to cuddle and socialize properly. Given that maybe they have extra help in the socializing and feeding aspect of their "work" but another red flag that concerns me greatly is that they advertise a 6 year old dog saying because they are "done" with shihtzus. (sp?) I think I have read somewhere that a 6 year old dog is close to retirement, if not there already and to advertise one like that is like saying "use her to make as many puppies as you want." They also use marketing terms "tea cup" and "micro tea cup" that we as a group over time have discovered to be nothing more than a sham. They are words used to sell puppies for more green and attract the wrong kind of people. Those words attract the king of people that are looking for a small stuffed animal more than a living breathing creature that will come to be your life long companion.
I am not against mixing, I agree that is how many of the great breeds we have today came to be. However, there has to be a purpose to these kinds of breeding other than creating "micro teacups" that can be sold for lots and lots of money.

Too many educated yorkie people on YT too be taken in by such a wesite/breeder.

People that conduct a Puppy Mill, yes Puppy Mill since they make a living of the backs of their dogs.

Your defending this particular place did accomplish something good. It brought this thread to the top again. A newbie that maybe looking for a new puppy will be warned in advance.

Just FYI.....the magic age for retirement for a female is 5......sometime younger, depending on the situation.

Thanks Mardelin, I knew I read that somewhere. I was actually searching threads for the retirement age, but you made my work much easier! Knowing that information comes from an experienced breeder, I know that's good information to share. It makes me sad for that little girl to be sold like that.

Now 5 is the average age. I do know of some very reputable breeders that may have a very healthy female that is capable of breeding until 6. But, that doesn't happen too often and usually not done without full compliance of a repro vet. The longer you breed them the more chance of complications. Anyway spaying at 5 allows these girls the rest of their lives to be little princessess.

Do they have any hogs tearing up their property? When I hunt down there with my Cousin, they are all over. You could walk on their backs and go for miles, without touching the ground. Here is a recent one.
