Pups due any time now!!!

Hello Breeders My female Yorkie, Penelope is due to whelp any day now. I have set up a box for her in an area next to my bed. I've experienced helping a dog I had many years ago give birth. But its been a long time. I'm not a breeder, just a pet owner who's female got pregant from a visiting male yorkie. She is very small but my vet has been keeping a good eye on here and feels that everything will go well. She had an ultra-sound and the pups all look healthy.

I have prepared a kit to help in the whelping process. Is there anyting I am missing?

* Blankets
* Towles
* Paper Towles
* Betadine
* Rubbing Alcohol
* Dental Floss
* Scissors
* Latex Gloves
* Baby Wipes
* Puppy Formula
* Nursing Kit
* Heatiing Pad

Any good advise you have is definately welcome

Congratulations on your upcoming litter. What day is she on now from her first breeding? It sounds like you have everything covered. Do you have any Nutri-cal on hand to give the momma in between puppies? How many is she expecting? I will be praying for momma to have a safe delivery.

Thanks so much! The problem is that I didn't she her mate. So I don't really know when it happened. The male dog happen to be a 6 month old pup and I didn't realize she went into heat. The vet told me sometime the presence of male can cause the female to go into heat. So I don't really have an exact day. But from my calculations it should be in the next few days. I'm afraid she may have 3 or 4 pups. I never wanted her to get pregnant, but I didn't even discover that until 3 weeks ago,

Oh yes, I do have Nuti-Cal. I was reading that vanilla ice cream is good for the whelping female in between deliveries. Is that right? I got some just in case

I bet your were surprised when she ended up pregnant. I have never tried the vanilla ice cream but I have read that several have used it and the mommas like it. Please keep us posted on how she is doing. There are several other breeders on puppy watch now also.

Hi Kev, One thing I didn't see on your list is a bulb syringe for clearing the babies thraot and noses. You will definitely need that. Good luck on your babies and keep us updated. We are here to help.
