Here come puppies... Chloe is in hard labor...her contractions are coming very close together now, it shouldn't be much longer. I've never had one to do this, but she will NOT get in her whelping box. She stands in there and howls when I put her in and she will not settle down at all. She only lays down and pushes a little when I put her on my bed. So I piled blankets and towels up on the bed...she says that's where she wants to have them, so be it...;) |

Any babies yet??? |
Wishing you a safe whelping and healthy pups! |
Things have not been fun...lost the first baby (a boy)...too big and stuck...he was born outside the sac (dry birth) and he was really large. I had to pull him out (he was already dead) and shee was screaming...it was horrible. Then I walked across the room to get another towel and I came back and she had another baby laying there already. She wasn't breathing, I fnially got her back and got all the fluid out of her lungs. Then another girl, this one was healthy and active, but she grabbed the cord and snapped it as she was being born, and she almost bled to death...but I got her back too. Now they're both having trouble nursing...she has inverted nipples (all except 2), so they're having a difficult time. I placed them on several times but they can't get a grip...so if they don't figure it out soon I'm going to have to get out the syringe. They were 3.6 and 3.8 ounces. She has at least one more that I can feel, maybe two. She's resting now...she's relaly tired, bless her heart. If she doesn't start pushing again in less than an hour I'm going to take them all into the EV. stressed....................:eek::eek: |
I'm so sorry you lost the big boy. My best wishes and prayers are with you. I hope all goes well. |
Oh Nicki, I'm so sorry! I was hoping for better news.:( You must be so exhausted on top of being stressed!! I am keeping you, Chloe and those precious, tiny babies in my prayers. |

aww Nicki, I am so sorry that you lost two babies. I pray the others will be better soon. |
nicki, I am so sorry. makes you wonder why people come on here so anxious to breed their babies doesn't it when even we experienced breeders go thru things like this. it is just heartbreaking. |
You, your sister, mom and little ones are in our prayers! I'm real sorry she lost two babies! |
You have my sympathy for your lost little ones. I applaud you for being able to handle the first one... you've given the others a chance at life. I had to pull a over large pup last year, but my girl didn't have any more. She carried a toy around for days.... If you wouldn't have acted quickly you could have lost MOM and all the others. I do sincerely hope that your little lady can keep her two with her and pray that they thrive. My heart goes out to you. |
Oh dear what a stressfull experience. I'm so sorry that you lost 2. I hope the remaining girls are nursing and doing well. |
Thank you everyone for your support. This is another thread that we can point those to who are thinking of breeding their pets and don't understand the consequences. That baby that I had to pull would've killed her if I hadn't known that I HAD to stick my fingers up there and get him out. I knew he was already dead because his feet were the only things out and there was no sac...so all I could think about was that she had been trying to push him out for a long time and I HAD to get him out of there. Bless her heart, she did so good...she was trying so hard and she was exhausted. I had to give her some Calsorb after that first one...because she just had absolutely no energy to push anymore. I do have some good news though...the two little girls are nursing!! :D They both gained from last night. Their birth weights were 3.6 and 3.8 and today they're 3.9 and 4.1!! :cheer: My sister has decided to name them Jade and Lily, and we are most likely keeping both of them. Chloe is going to be spayed as soon as they are old enough. Let this be a good lesson to anyone who wants to know the dangers of breeding. My mom and my sister wanted to breed Chloe so badly, even though I had warned and warned them. She didn't come from a reputable breeder, and we had no idea about her lines. This is what can happen, and I'm so sorry it had to happen to her, but my mom was in the room when I had to pull out the boy...and she was crying. She said, "I will never bred another one of my babies again." Thank God that Chloe and her babies are ok...but I'm glad that a lesson was learned here. Thank you all again for being so supportive. :) |
What a harrowing experience! I am glad the two little girls are doing well!Get some rest. |
Nicki, thank you for sharing you sad experience with us. Thank God you were there to help her. I hate to think what would have happened if it were not for you being there to help her. I am soooo happy to hear the girls are nursing and gaining. Good job! |
