Parti yorkie breeding genetics? I have just purchased a female party yorkie. Her father is a full parti yorkie and mother is just a standard not parti carrier. Do you think it would be possible to breed my standard yorkie to my female parti yorkie and have a parti yorkie puppy become of it? Also not sure if anyone knows my male yorkie is CKC and parti is AKC is there away i can register there puppies? |
I can't help you with whether or not you would get a parti.. BUT the odds are good... as far as registeriung.. you could not register them AKC unless BOTH mom and dad are AKC |
I have heard you can only register parti yorkies as akc? Have you heard anything about that? |
Both parents have to be AKC registered to register a litter AKC. |
If your girl is a parti carrier, then if bred to a standard yorkie (non carrier) she will produce all standard-color puppies. The majority will be standard yorkies that do not carry the parti gene, but a small amount could be parti carriers but will look like standard yorkies. |

In order to get the parti coloring, both mother and father have to each pass on 1 parti gene to the pup. It would be very unlikely for a parti who is bred to a standard, to produce a parti pup unless the standard parent was actually a parti carrier. You may be able to double register you AKC yorkie with CKC and register her pups with CKC when breeding to your CKC stud. |
thats kinda what i thought that the mother and father both have to have the gene somehow in them. The puppy i bought is indead a (full) Parti (not jsut the carrier of the gene). The mother of the puppy must of had it in here genes somewhere. The previous owner said the female was just a standard but like i said she had to be a carrier. So if i breed a parti carrier to my parti i think i read that i will have some full parti and some parti carriers is that correct. If so i might want to invest and work on getting another parti yorkie. I want to thank ya'll for helping me figure this one out lol. Erin |

Just would like to add a break down on odds of getting parti colored puppies. Both parents must at LEAST be carriers to get a parti pup. If you breed a parti to a carrier 1/2 the pups will be partis and the other 1/2 will be carrires. If you breed a parti to a standard yorkie ALL the puppies will be carriers but none will be actual partis. If you breed a carrier to a standard yorkie 1/2 the pups will be carriers and the other 1/2 will be non carriers (standard), although theres no way of knowing who is a carrier other than further breeding to find out (but carrier pups do tend to have a lot more white on them at birth). And of course if you breed a parti to a parti all the pups will be partis. I hope I explained this to where its not more confusing. |
yes that was explained very well now the second hardest part is to find a parti male that is not 4,000.00 if you know what i mean lol. |
apri versus akc K maybe you can answer this. There is a parti yorkie that is apri registered and mine is akc would you hold off and get another akc. Supposibly i could register the pups when they are to have them under apri but not sure if i really want to go apri. Is apri legitimate and/ or worth having would that be more down grading? |

Question Does anyone know the odds of a litter? Dam- Blonde (carries chocolate) Sire-Parti (carries chocolate Parti) Still confused on the outcome. Does this mean they could have chocolates, blondes, or blonde partis? |
Quote:
Dam does not carry parti so there will be no parti offspring (recessive gene). Sire does not carry blonde (ee) so there will be no blonde (ee) offspring (recessive gene). You can get chocolates and traditionals, some of the pups who are traditional colored will carry for chocolate. All the pups will carry for both parti and blonde. |
