Just when you think you have heard it all...that is so sad that she doesn't even like yorkies! Yea...well I do not like her! I think it is great what you are doing Selina. There are a few yorkie breeders I knew of when I lived in Cuyahoga Falls, nothing there that impressed me. I do have a friend that started showing a year ago and will have puppies in the years to come! |

I agree! I LOVE looking at the photos of her dogs!:) |
Another update... I talked to my daughter's boyfriend, and he said that there are a lot of breeders who sell puppies at flea markets in and around Akron. He also told me that about a week ago, he stopped at a gas station, and someone there was selling pitbull puppies....right outside of the gas station! He said the mother's teets were dragging the ground. He said it's common to see people selling pups like that there. He said there's so much country and farm land around there, that there are a lot of breeders who don't seem to care much for their dogs.:( He asked some of his friends who go to the flea markets. He said they see yorkie pups all the time. Most do not come with AKC papers. One guy remembers a woman named "Chris" who seems to be there often. She always has yorkie pups. I'm wondering if her name is "Christina", but it might be a long shot that she's the same woman. Also, I think her phone number is a cell phone. The area code in Akron and surrounding areas is 330. My other daughter lives down that way, and her home area code is 330, but her cell phone is 440. My area code at home and on my cell is 440. My daughter says there are always tons of ads for yorkie pups in the paper, especially on Sundays. I'm going to check some of those out. I am going to keep trying to find as much info as I can on ANY of these places. My daughter's neighbor is a vet tech, and she has lived in the area all her life. She said people are always bringing in sick puppies (all breeds, not just yorkies) that people bought at flea markets. She is going to see if she can find out anything. She said she's always trying to get someone to help her find out where these puppy mills are, but no one ever wants to get involved. Will keep you posted... |

Good job. I love to see people get involved and be proactive on this issue. Wishing you the best of luck. |
Way to go LoveMyJake !!! |
Dogs are VERY social animals and NEED to be around their humans and get lots of love and attention. It breaks my heart to think about those dogs being outside in cages breeding at every heat. I would call that lady, have her meet me in a restaurant parking lot somewhere and bring some pups. I'd have someone with me get out of the car and go into the restaurant but stand by a window to watch for her to pull up. Then have the friend go with pad and pencil, take down the license plate #, make and model of car. I'd then ask the lady for proof of bile acid test, Vet. record and spay and neuter contract and so on. Of course she won't have all of those so the deal is off. Have the plate # run thru. DMV. |

That is a GREAT idea!!! I wouldn't have any problem running her plate through. My brother is a cop in Cleveland, and he's also a huge animal lover. I'm sure he will do it for me. You are so right about dogs needing human contact and love and attention. I think yorkies especially need lots of attention. I know my boys can't get enough! It breaks my heart to think that those dogs are just in cages all the time and don't get the attention they deserve. And, she is not the only one. :( |
That sounds familiar to me...I think someone else may have posted that "kennel" name on here before (?) I'm trying to search for it, but I can't find it... |
There is a "Tina's Tiny Toys" in Lebanon, PA that I can find ads for online at puppyfind.com ...but they are Australian Shepards...is that anywhere near Akron, OH? ETA: I find it interesting that someone's operating under that name-Shepards aren't exactly tiny or toys...? |
This is just sad. Many of the yorkies listed on that website don't even look like yorkies! :( |
I love the Amish but when it comes to breeding dogs, they are treated just like cattle and they can do that and there is very little way to stop them. Most are sickly and you would not want to buy any. Also there is a lady in Burton that is a puppy mill and she has an ad in the paper every day. She also has a friend take her dogs and sells them(bad news) they never get their papers so you have no idea if it was bred to a chi yorkie maltese what ever:thumbdown The akc is closing in on her at last and it looks the one way they can get her is incorrect info on registration to make it look like she isn't breeding the life out of these females. Ohio and Pa. are loaded with puppy mills and to think flea markets allow pups to be sold there is just terrible. |
