Ok so we are back from the vet.. She had 2 xrays and we were easily able to count heads...Bet ya wish I would tell you how many we counted.. Anyways, they were really busy today and the doc didn't examine her, he just said to have patience, that according to the xray, he thought any second now.. Now on to something soooo horrible.. Before I got my first Yorkie Tucker (RIP) I went to a breeders house to see her puppies... Lets just say I would not store the corpse of my worst enemy in her living room.. Well she came into the vet today while I was waiting and she had 2 females that had each had a litter and 6 puppies with her.. Well one of the mothers is almost 4 lbs and was a beautiful black and tan color... Well her name was Ms Priss Priss and she had obviously never had a bath... She was so beautiful but soooo dirty.. Well apparently after giving birth, her uterus started to flip so to save her life, the doc spayed her.. Now the woman does not want her.. I did not tell the woman that I had been at her house and saw the horrible conditions of her dogs and her home, but this dog is only 1yr old and is precious.. I want that dog away from that woman asap but I cannot afford to buy her and keep her right now.. I told the woman that if she decided to sell her, to call me.. Right now she is nursing pups so it may be a little while but if she calls me and wants to sell her for a decent price, then I want to get her and bring her home and bath her and then find her a new home.. This woman does not care who gets her dogs so if I am in charge of finding her a new home, then I can feel better knowing where she is going.. Do you guys think that is a bad idea? If I do it, is there anyone that would be interested in her? She is AKC registered and I spent an hour petting her and loving her and she is precious.. If I do it, what would be a good price? I can't spend alot, but if I know I can get it all back by selling her then I will do whatever it takes.. I do not want to make money off of her, I just want her to be safe and be somebodies baby... What do you guys think??? The woman wants me to come over and visit so I may go again to see if the conditions have changed.. Doubt it though... Oh I feel sooo bad for that poor baby.. Man I wish assault and theft weren't crimes sometimes.... |
This is about the 7th time I've checked in today. I hope we hear from Amanda soon. I do think the x-ray today was a good idea. It is so hard not knowing the actual breeding dates. I still feel that today is the day, via c-section or natural. |
Just read all the posts and I couldn't believe that there was no pups yet! How frustrating! Be sure and just let her do her thing. They do very well on their own usually! This is so exciting! Hoping everything goes fast and well! Pat |
We were posting at the same time. How wonderful to hear from you Amanda. I am glad all seems well with Kallie. Yes, I'd try and get the poor Mamma dog off of that lady too:mad:. Oh, the poor baby:(. I'm sure someone here will give her the home she deserves. This may be the best thing that could have happened to her to get her into a loving home. |

No, don't hold them a lot the first 2 weeks. Just check them out, kiss them and give 'em back to Kallie. Don't let others touch them (your children will want to but make them wash their hands first) but don't let them touch the belly area or the face (while you are holding the pup). Just let them touch/pet the top of the head and the pup's back. Kallie may act completely different (very protective of the pups). Don't act nervous to pick them up and check them out or she will become nervous about you doing it. I always pet the Mamma and tell her what a good job she did, focusing on her and praising her then just check out the pups nonchalantly and tell her what a good Mamma she is. Keep the focus on Kallie at first. She will barely want to leave them long enough to pee for the first 3 days. She will have to pee frequently though. DON'T panic when she may still be bleeding some for a few weeks or so. You may want to pick her up while holding a towel around her bottom to take her out to pee. You'll notice after the pups are born that they will try to go back to where they came from. This is normal. Unless the Mamma is a mess, I don't bath her until the 3rd day. Oh boy, I think I may be getting carried away. Let me know if I can help with anything.:) |

Amanda, are the conditions in the woman's home so horrible that maybe the police/sheriff needs to get involved? My Tucker too came from a horrible home. The guy brought the dogs outside but I could see in his house and it was disgusting. Tucker was totally infested with fleas and had sores all over his little body. It broke my heart. My brother is a Deputy Sheriff and I told him about the conditions of that home. He reported it to that county's officials and they went over there and broke up this guys puppy breeding ring. |

Amanda I have a woman out here who is older and just lost her two little guys (both very aged) and she called looking for a female, but I don't think I will have one for her. I've known her for years and she really dotes on her babies. She's just so lonely without them. I could check to see if she would be interested in this little female. I'm right with you on getting the dogs away from that woman. I think Kallie will go TONIGHT....around 8:00 p.m. your time. Still think 4-5 babies and still think they are arguing about who is coming out first. So they must be girls. LOL Good luck |
My new guess is Wed. 3am.........Hey Amanda!!! It is great to hear from you!!! So glad to hear that it will be any second! The vet told me it would be any second Sat. well it is Monday afternoon...nothing yet. I am just wishing another Good luck and I hope she has an easy whelp! I think you are doing a wonderful thing trying to get that poor little girl!!! Bless her little heart! Maybe someone will take her in...I'm so glad she got neutured, now she can get out of that dump!!!! I cannot even believe that lady was like I don't want her now...that goes to show you there is no way she could have bonded with her at all! |

sorry for the delay in updating Ladies......i layed down on the couch after taking a pain killer for my back.....im gonna be on and off here for a while...i will try to update when i can....good luck all....Amanda im glad you took her to the vet....i bet it is killing you knowing how many and not able to tell...it's like knowing a secret at Christmas....well at least you wont have to wait that long (well i hope not).....lol...give Kallie a kiss for me....she is fixing to be very very busy.....dont forget you can text me at anytime....im here for you girl......and i can update everyone online for you so you dont have to keep going up and down those stairs....you better get some rest you are fixing to be very busy too....oh i forgot you already are (the 1 year old)....lol.....later all |

Hello Amanda..............and everyone else! I'm still hoping Kallie has those babies tonight after I get home from bunko. I'll be wide awake that I think I'd be able to stay up and cheer her on and give Amanda some moral support. Nice clear xrays and good head count........that's great! It's very comforting having a good idea of how many pups to expect so you know when she's done. Did the vet say anything about the size of the pups as far as having a trouble free whelping? Just curious. Gosh, I know we're all guessing not only birth dates, but also the # of pups, but I'd LOVE to know how many you saw. Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep being patient.:p I'll be back later for the big event! Hopefully.:rolleyes: |

i agree....i think it was a sign......now that God has worked through her to get that mommy some help coming in the future she can get down to business...i would say we will probably have puppies in the nex 12-24 hours....i guess we will just have to wait and see |
Oh man I'm bummed out about that poor little mama in the Vets office...I just don't understand some ppl and their disconnection from compassion!!! Way to go Amanda, I will pray it works out that she will call you when and hopefully if she decides to get rid of her....There are plenty of folks who would love to have her....I will make a new guess although I'm sure everyone can uuuhhh sense my guessing and lining up the coffee grinds in my cup are definately lacking lol...how about Tuesday 12:00p.m. and 3 pups.???. |
