Ok, can someone tell me why she is knawing at her legs and feet like she has fleas.. She does not have much hair thanks to me so I can see her skin and she does not have any fleas....What is wrong with her? |
I have one that will chew on her paws when she is upset...my son says she is biting her nails:rolleyes: |
it could be a change in hormones....do you remember when you got close to delivery with your children how your skin itched...and it didnt matter how much you scratched it it still itched?...same with animals...also you are like me and having weather changes today...that can do it too...my male right now as we speak is laying on the carpet scooting and rubbing cause his skin itches.....it does it alot when the weather changes....also when he needs a bath and when he gets a bath...and right now your little mommy - to - be is going through alot of changes really fast so it could just be that..... |

Oh ok, well that makes me feel better... Her mouth is real dry but she will not drink any water.. Stewie cannot stand to be away from her.. He hates the xpen but when I get ready to put her in there he goes in and will not come out.. Then when I set her down, he sniffs her from head to toe to see if she is ok.. They are sooo funny together...So her temp has been going low at night and rising to 99.7 in the mornings, but last night it was 97.1 and this morning it was 98.1 and an hour ago it was 97.9... Could this mean we are close since it is staying low...Why am I so obsessed with this temperature thing, you guys have already told me it is not always accurate....I am CRAZY!!!! My head is starting to hurt from stress... |

if hubby is home to watch the dogs and kids for a few minutes...go and take a nice bath...relax and listen to some music |
Oh Amanda, I hear you!!! I got sooo OCD about the temp thing, and it just never happened like it was supposed to for Ruby. I think we just feel so helpless and we want to DO SOMETHING so we keep taking their temp. like its a crystal ball or something. It just isn't and we are left to wait and worry. My Coco stress eats, and Ruby chews her legs too when she is stressed. If it was any time but "birth" time, I'd suggest you rinse her legs in a little cool water just in case she has a little allergic reaction to the grass etc. -- but you know that this is just her responding to all the changes going on in her body. We empathize with you, the April Puppy ladies have been there too. Hang on. She can't be pregnant forever. (When I had trouble potty training my son, I used to tell myself he would be trained by the time he was 10. It took the pressure off, and he WAS trained by 10. LOL He'd kill me if he knew I told). |

Now that I have you worrying about that now and you won't be able sleep...my job is done. |
Hey! I just wanted to drop by and wish you a nice and wasy whelping! I am so glad everyone has been so nice to you!!! Everyone is being so helpful! I can't give you any information because I am due for my first whelp on May 18. She probably senses you being stressed so that is making her stressed. I know it is that way with our children, so I'm sure it is the same with our furbabies. I will be watching for when she has them. Good luck! |
Oh and another question... or two.. Should I be able to feel the puppies moving? Is it possible that she sould still be another week away and her temp be that low??? |
cause the last thing she needs right now is knowing that you are stressed out too....she needs you to be fresh and relax so that when the time comes you can be ready.....she is counting on you... |
from what i understand yes you should be able to feel them moving....and i dont know the answer to the other question..... |
