CKC to AKC I have a yorkie who is CKC reg because the breeder said AKC is too expensive. However, I would like my puppies to be AKC reg. What do I do? Is that possible? |
unless both parents are akc and the parent's were already akc reg there is no way to get them akc reg |
thanks... I guess... :(:( |

Sorry. To register a litter with AKC is not really that expensive. She might not have registered them with AKC because her dogs might not be AKC registered. T. |
I think AKC is too expensive. they have been raising their prices for years and are at least 3 to 4 times higher then any other registry if not more. There are other reputable registries then just AKC. this is the 21st century not the 18th. |

WELL! |
To register a whole litter with AKC - it is only 25.00. I guess AKC is higher because - it also pays for the representatives to check conditions of where dogs are kept, check breeders paperwork, etc... That has to count for something. I prefer to go with a registry where they check breeders. It is still very resonable - IMO. I also enjoy showing. P.S Sometimes you can get a coupon and get 10.00 off. T. |
Last I heard it was $40, $30 if you had the coupon. Then they have fees for this and fees for that and this and that. Just goes on and on and will continue to get higher. |

They use this as an excuse because their dogs aren't eligible. I'm sure they would gladly pay the $30.00 or $40.00 to do this because it increases the pups worth by much more than that amount. However, if the parents aren't registered or the have lost privileges for some violation they use the excuse that it's too expensive. Registering your pup shouldn't be a status thing, it's about helping to promote good breeding practices. |

Here is a link to the form - http://www.akc.org/pdfs/literap.pdf Litter Registrations: See only 25.00 and 2.00 per pup - that is it! So actually it is not that bad. The other fees listed is only if you want pedigrees, etc... And if you are breeding - you should know what the pedigrees would be before you breed, so you do not need a pedigree from them. Other fees are if you want to list the pups, or certificate - all those things you really do not need. I hope this helps. T. |
