HELP!!!! We're in labor!!!!
 
Duckie is finally deciding to go into labor!!! She is having contractions, and pushing some but the contractions are not long and strong enough to get anything out. When do I start to worry?????? I haven't even seen a water sac yet. I just saw this greenish brownish blackish stuff on her newspaper and I don't know what it is or where it came from. Any advice would be great and any help would be great!!

She has been having contractions for over an hour and pushing every now and then. I can feel the contractions easing up and getting stronger. This might take all day at this rate :p

If she has been pushing for over an hour you need to call your vet.

There should NOT be greenish stuff without a puppy...or I have never had it..
If she has pushed , for over an hour she may not be able to have the puppies.

Sometimes it takes hours for the mom to fully dilate enough to push out that first pup. I wish you and the mom best wishes for a safe delivery.

but..... yellowish...greenish....and brownish...just doesnt sound right to me..
The others will let you know more.
And if she is pushing HARD for over an hour....
Call...we cant help you online if theres a bad problem

Ok whew the vet says the same thing you guys say. They say as long as she's not constantly pushing for over an hour then she's ok. The yellowish greenish discharge is also normal. This is all just so new to me and I just want to make sure I am doing this right :::sigh::: With Daisy, when she strated having contractions, the first puppy was born within 30 minutes, so that's why I was beginning to worry. It just differs from dog to dog.

I'm glad you called..now they have the heads up too.
I didnt know that was normal...Mine never did it..Just the tan color water when the water sack burst. Keep us updated girl

Yes, each dog is different. Some females show very little signs of labor until right before they start pushing hard. Some females cry and really have a hard time and others just breeze through. Much of it depends on the size of the female and the size of the puppy they are trying to deliver. With a bigger pup the mom has to dilate much more and that takes time. You have to keep in mind though, some females that are not build right for delivery may never dilate enough to deliver so you need to feel when she is pushing to see if you can feel the puppy starting to buldge. This process takes time but once the puppy is starting to buldge she should make more progress with each contraction.

I am so happy for you! Glad you called your vet, mine told me when I called about Lexie having the greenish goo on her to get my behind in there now...You can never be to safe with these babies:)

How are things going? It sounds as if she's in the beginning of active labor, building up to stronger contractions and delivery.

No updates yet!!??? What a great day for puppies! We got 2 litters coming today!!!! Waiting rooms a busy place today!

How is Duckie doing? I had always heard that green was a bad sign, I watched a litter with my mentor go downhill fast when she had a green discharge during the labor. She lost 3 puppies, 2 made it. :(

I hope everything is ok. With Kayla she had her little dead girl first, so she had a lot of trouble getting her out. She was pushing for about an hour, and I put a little lube on my finger and gently feathered her, then reached up and felt the bottom of the puppy. I was able to work the sides of it and turn it around so that she pushed it out on her own.

I know you already know this...but don't hesitate at any signs of distress...it could mean her life!! :eek:

We have puppies!!!!
 
We have four little boys!!! All healthy and between 5oz and 6 & 3/8 oz. Mama and babies are all resting and doing great. I cannot believe there were no girls!! I was hoping for more girls because I was gonna keep one, but oh well. At least they are all healthy!!! :D

Awww congrats!!!! No girls? :( Oh well, 4 fun baby boys!! You're in for some T.R.O.U.B.L.E.!! ;)

Awwww... I know how you feel. I was praying for girls because everybody except for one person wanted a boy... God delivered some how. Sadly I already have three and that is enough right now... I don't get to keep any :(
