Sure didn't mean to come off as "chewing" anyone out. You will do what you wish with your dogs, it's up to you to make the right decisions for her. I just believe by the age of 5 or 6 they should be done, not starting. JMHO |

Most people make this decision based on their individual dogs health etc and the vet and you both know your dog the best. I don't have an opinion either way as I know nothing about your girls health etc. We all have to remember no matter what their age, the girls are always at risk when breeding them. And that we always have to weigh into our decision. I saw that you have decided to breed your girl. Best of luck to you and her Deana |

I know how U feel we've had a litter of puppies (1 each summer) for the past 2 summers and I'm really missing them too even tho I have 2- 10 month old girls and 1-1 year old girl. I miss them being so tiny and me taking care of them, seeing them whelping well U know. But no puppies this year for us, hopefully next Summer. I just keep coming here to the nursery and peeking and love seeing all the new babies. It is hard not to have any when U have had them. I keep putting my babies like their newborns on their backs in my arms even tho they wiggle out of my arms some and don't always want to be held on their backs like newborns lol. It helps me curb my want for newborns :) |

I have seen some very young bitches that should not be bred. I also know of a person who lives like 20 min from me who is breeding her 3lb yorkie and it makes me sick! That would be like me breeding my lil Lillie, I just could not even fathom it! Baby is built very nice, she had such a great whelping. And I know all the risk and if I didnt think she was up for it, then I would not put her through it. I really think diet and exercise is the key here. We walk Baby and the others almost everyday! Hubby also takes Baby on runs, she LOVES to run while he rides the bike! You should see her running while he is on the bike, she enjoys it so much! I know I have said it once, but I feed all my babies a holistic diet, so with the exercise and her diet, she is really a very healthy girl! She still plays just like a 1 yr old would play! I know my girl better then anyone. :) |
Before I bought Bailey and Brooklynn, I met a breeder who had a female that had a litter and she was 7 years old (it was her last) and she looked fabulous!! I couldn't believe she was 7.. Her puppy from her second litter (I think she was 3yrs) looked like she was 20! I agree that each female should be taken into account individually.. :) Best of luck, Missy! I would LOVE to be able to find a little girl Baby's color! I saw a baby girl online but they wanted $2200 for her... That would break my wallet right now! ;) |
