I have to admitt... I'm getting puppy fever!! Is this normal?? I was sitting talking to my daughter and I was rubbing Baby's belly like she so loves for me to do and I told my daughter that I missed Baby being preggy. I want puppies again so bad! I know I should wait, that was my plan, but I want to breed her again so bad! Please don't judge me for this, I went through enough the 1st time when Baby got preggy, I just want your nice opinion without being hateful. I know your suppose to skip a heat but I also know of breeders, breeding 2 heats and then skipping the 3rd. |
patience is a virtue ;) I hope you'll give her a rest. Just enjoy little Kibble for the time being :) |
I have heard of a lot of people doing two heats, then skipping the third. If her last litter was not too much on her, and she has bounced back, and there has been a decent amount of time since her last litter, I would say go for it. You know her better than anyone else to know if she can handle it. Some people might disagree, but this is JMO. |

My granddaughter ask me the other day. Nana why are all the animals "fighting" :p :p :p hehehe I've read that a lot of people do that. Breed back to back, then rest a heat. But I think each dog is different.I dont know anything about her size or her past whelping....So.... I would take her to the vets. Have her testing done. And let the vet tell you if shes good and healthy from her last whelping. I love puppies too! |
If she is in good health and all...she should be okay to breed again. Then make sure you skip the next one. Get her on a good daily vitiamin and that will help also. Good Luck;) |
Me too! I'm missing the newborns for sure. |
I know how you feel. After having our first litter by Lexie last November, I've learned just what a great feeling it is having a litter of puppies around. Lexie's next heat has come and gone, so we're going to have to wait til the summer before the chance of having puppies comes again. In the meantime.....to satisfy my puppy urge.....we got our Toby in early January, and if that wasn't enough (nope, it wasn't:p ), we just picked up our new little girl last Monday. So for now, we've got 6 month old Toby and almost 3 month old Halle to keep busy. You might want to try that idea as an option! LOL:D |
wait...I think I found out the *real* reason you want to do this LOL...you convinced your husband to let you keep Kibble out of the first litter so you're thinking he'll let you keep another out of the second litter huh??? LOL |

Baby weighs 5 1/2 pounds and Rocky weighs 4 1/2... right Missy?? so they'r both a good breeding weight We go to the vet almost every week with Evie.. not because she's sick... contrary... she's VERY healthy... very playful... very very playful... lol.. Evie only weighs 3 pounds... she jumps from week to week from 3 pounds to 3.2... but the doctor said that was very normal.... Anyway we have to go with her so often because she's little and the doctor didn't want to do too many shots at one time.. so he spread them apart. She's 19 weeks now and such a delight to have!!! I'm sure if the doctor OKed Baby to have another litter this soon... whoever got another of Baby's puppies would be so thrilled!!!! Evie looked like a little tomboy when we got her... now she's looking more and more like a girly-girl every day... her face is so pretty.. and her eyes are a killer!!! Either way, Missy.. whatever you decide.. I'm behind you 1000000% of the way!! If you ever need a reference.. you got me;) A few recent pictures of Evie Kiwi:) |
Baby did EXELLENT with her last whelping! I did not have any runts, I feed all my babies a holistic diet. 3 weeks before Baby had her litter I started her on the whelping pudding. Her milk came in perfect and she nursed till the babies were almost 10 weeks old. I read and read and read and did so much research on her whelping. I feel that this is for me. I loved EVERY bit of her pregnancy to her birth and then of cause fell madly in love with Marky, Evie and Kibble. Even though I had to let Marky and Evie go, it made me so happy to see that they were going to good homes and they were both going to have a great mommy and daddy. Everyone knows my love for my babies on here, and the love I have for this breed. I had no idea when I got Baby that I would ever breed her, I knew I had thought about breeding way back when I had Kloey (RIP) No, I would not be keeping a pup from another one of her litters, actually, I would be buying a new female to start my breeding program. Baby is 6 years old and this last litter was her 1st litter ever. Edith, I can not believe how much Evie looks like Baby, that last pic blew me away, she is a spitting image of her mama. So so beautiful! Thank you so much for all your support. I'm still un-decided, Baby won't come into heat till May, so I have just a bit to toss it around in my head. |
wow, 6 is too old to begin having babies. I know she did good on her first litter, but I would rethink on the count of her age. Most have retired before she had her first litter. This is just what I would do, I Hope you don't me saying. |

ok... I'm sorry for saying this.. I'm probably going to get my butt kicked for this... but "you guys" are (at least to me) chewing Missy out for this.... from what I know... most people retire their dogs at 7... I've talked to many GOOD breeders (I've been considering breeding for years)... and they all agree that 7 is their "maximum"... so... since Baby did so well last time... and all the puppies are in perfect health... what would it hurt to breed her one last time???? she's still in perfect health... and I didn't even know Baby was 6 till I read this thread.. If you saw her in person you'd think she was MAYBE 3.. Like I said... I know I'm going to get chewed out for this.. but I'm sticking up for what and who I believe in! |
THANK YOU SWEETIE!! I have decided that I will be breeding Baby 1 more time. Baby is a gorgeous female and some may say that she is not the "standard" yorkie but ya no what? I get more compliments on her then any of my other yorkies. I had both my pups sold before they were even 10 weeks old, I did not have to post in the 4-sale thread. I'm not bragging or anything like that, I'm just saying that Baby is beautiful and lots of people love the darker yorkies. Baby is healthy, smart, has a great personality, and very beautiful. I'm very lucky to be her momma! This will be Baby's last litter, but it wont be the end of me breeding! Just the beginning! Thanks for everyone who is supporting me and thanks for all the PM's! Sure didn't mean to come off as "chewing" anyone out. You will do what you wish with your dogs, it's up to you to make the right decisions for her. I just believe by the age of 5 or 6 they should be done, not starting. JMHO |

Most people make this decision based on their individual dogs health etc and the vet and you both know your dog the best. I don't have an opinion either way as I know nothing about your girls health etc. We all have to remember no matter what their age, the girls are always at risk when breeding them. And that we always have to weigh into our decision. I saw that you have decided to breed your girl. Best of luck to you and her Deana |

I know how U feel we've had a litter of puppies (1 each summer) for the past 2 summers and I'm really missing them too even tho I have 2- 10 month old girls and 1-1 year old girl. I miss them being so tiny and me taking care of them, seeing them whelping well U know. But no puppies this year for us, hopefully next Summer. I just keep coming here to the nursery and peeking and love seeing all the new babies. It is hard not to have any when U have had them. I keep putting my babies like their newborns on their backs in my arms even tho they wiggle out of my arms some and don't always want to be held on their backs like newborns lol. It helps me curb my want for newborns :) |

I have seen some very young bitches that should not be bred. I also know of a person who lives like 20 min from me who is breeding her 3lb yorkie and it makes me sick! That would be like me breeding my lil Lillie, I just could not even fathom it! Baby is built very nice, she had such a great whelping. And I know all the risk and if I didnt think she was up for it, then I would not put her through it. I really think diet and exercise is the key here. We walk Baby and the others almost everyday! Hubby also takes Baby on runs, she LOVES to run while he rides the bike! You should see her running while he is on the bike, she enjoys it so much! I know I have said it once, but I feed all my babies a holistic diet, so with the exercise and her diet, she is really a very healthy girl! She still plays just like a 1 yr old would play! I know my girl better then anyone. :) |
Before I bought Bailey and Brooklynn, I met a breeder who had a female that had a litter and she was 7 years old (it was her last) and she looked fabulous!! I couldn't believe she was 7.. Her puppy from her second litter (I think she was 3yrs) looked like she was 20! I agree that each female should be taken into account individually.. :) Best of luck, Missy! I would LOVE to be able to find a little girl Baby's color! I saw a baby girl online but they wanted $2200 for her... That would break my wallet right now! ;) |
