This raises a couple questions for me.

First, we lost a puppy after a greenish black discharge that our vet said was okay. Mom's water broke and the discharge was actually the waste from the sack around the puppy. It is my understanding that the puppies produce waste and it just hangs around in the sack. But when the sack breaks the waste products can be discharged and the waste is greenish black goopey stuff. This means there is a puppy in there without a sack, although it is still hooked to mom with the cord. In our case, we could actually hear the puppy crying inside mom when the vet examined her. They said it was okay, but it wasn't. I'd be scared, scared, scared () if I saw that again! Anyone else have this problem before?

Second, do your females have diahrrea before labor? Ruby has thin mustard-colored diahrrea this morning. Her diet hasn't changed, so I was just wondering if you have seen this as a prelude to labor or if I just have a mom with an upset tummy.

Sweety has been having soft stools with mocus which is unsual (they are always firm).
What a great job you did with finding all the information for the puppy list......it sure has been a lot of babies this month.

Ruby is holding tight. Still having very soft stools with some mucous too. Temp was in 97's all day, now up to 98.7. She ate dinner, so I don't think we will have puppies tonight.

I'm going to do a corrected version of the puppy list to add what I forgot and to change what I got wrong. It is pretty interesting to see it all together. What a great thread this was. Thanks to Debbie for starting it. I hope those moms due in May, etc. will also start their thread. Its so fun to watch what is happening.

The 17th was Ruby's 63rd day. She is now on day 66!

I'm sitting here laughing all by myself. We've gotten so crazy waiting for these puppies that I tried to tape Wizard's ears today -- and then Matt made a movie of it on YouTube. It's called "Wizard says, "Help me, Help me". Turn up your sound, I can't help but laugh.

Too Cute! so how long did he kept his ears taped.....his sibilings were ready to jump in and help . Thanks for sharing , it really helps to take our minds off a little bit........ugggggggghh this girls!!!!

My last two females ate right before whelping (within a couple of hours and a good meal) so just because she ate I would say that means nothing to me any more at least with my girls.
Is the due date from her first tie or her last tie?
We had mucous and loose stools 4 days before we had pups.
Jewels temp only went to 99.1 before she whelped also and her normal was 99-99.9 so that fooled me also.

Well, after his little blue ears were attacked by his rowdy little brothers, we had to take the tape off!

Well, we have a little action this a.m. Ruby has been outside about 4 times in the last ten minutes, and she has a thick creamy gooey discharge. She is trying desperately to get out of her whelping pen and I know she wants to head for my closet! No way girl, back in the box.

Of course it would happen on a day when my daughter is out of town, my husband is in the City, and I have to take my granddaughter to school. Hmmm, what to do, what to do. Think we have to stay. Ruby is whining and whimpering and trying very hard to get out of her box.

More as things progress -- unless I'm just too busy. She had better not be teasing this time.

So was Mikayla. She ate, never a temp drop at all...it stayed around 100.1 the whole time.

I think for me it's more about watching their mannerisms...I just get paranoid trying to watch their temps. It makes me crazy.

They always get that look of panic on their faces, start digging and turning around, and licking themselves, and they pant like crazy. That always cues me in...I know it's time.

I dont have May, June, July, Aug, Sept...or even Oct puppies coming
But I love the April thread ..and If I can help anyone along the way..I'd love to.
All my puppies are doing GREAT..I just made a post about them with a pic
