Amd how is your baby today Nicki? |
Good Morning all Miss Nala is still here. Temp still up there. Nicki how is the lil man? And how are all the other mamas doing? |
Hey guys....no babies yet? Aidyn is still hanging in there, no nursing yet though...:( He does NOT like the tube feeding...he's getting sick and tired of it...and he has enough strength to push me away when I'm trying to get it in there, so I'll take that as a good sign. I'm hoping for some improvement today or tomorrow. He was checked out this morning...he's healthy, just tiny. Vet said he thinks he'll make it if I stay on top of things like I have so far. I sure hope so! |

Keep up the good work Nicki:thumbup: It IS a good sign that hes fighting you. He's still good and strong. I've never had to tubefeed. I have researched it and talked with my vet about it.She will show me just how to do it when the need arises. It scares me... |

It's not too difficult once you get the hang of it...you get used to it. When you know what you're doing it only takes a few seconds to get it in there. It helps if you have somebody there to hold the baby for you, but it can be done by yourself...I have to...:p |
Hang in there Nikki, your doing a great job with him, and where are all the puppies, its sounds like your girls are as stubborn as my Lexie:D |

You are my hero! I'm with Debbi, tube feeding scares me. I know we can do more than we think when tested, but I just hope it doesn't become an issue for these puppies. One of Coco's puppies was born and out of the sack, but the afterbirth hadn't been delivered and the cord was too short to cut. So the little guy just curled around and started nursing before he was even detached from mom. :D Now that is the kind of nurser I like to see! Seriously, though, I really am inspired by all of you on this thread. Thanks for all the great information and input and caring. |

Once it drops a significant amount approx 2 degrees from her norm then I would take it every 2 hours to see if it is staying down. Usually the female will exhibit several fluctuations in temperature as her progesterone levels start to decrease, there can be a couple sharp drops, but the temp should not stay down for a prolonged period of time until she is in labor. For 5 years now only one of our gals did not drop her temperature below 98.5. The temps should drop and stay relatively low for 12-24 hours until labor starts. If she is acting ok and you can still feel puppy movement then I would not be overly concerned. What day is she today from her first breeding? |
