I really do feel so guilty
 

I feel so guilty :(
I cant afford to take my Allie in for xrays to see and check on how many and how big the puppies are.
My husband has been laid off the last month, he's a mason.
I had several hundred dollars worth of bills for my Lea after xrays and everything when she died.
Then I got the 2 puppies that needed vet checks.
I had no idea about any of these things before I bred her :(
She had a bit of trouble with the last puppy in her first litter, and it was born dead.
But the other 4 were fine.
I took her to the vet BEFORE I bred her this time, and had her testing done.
And I bred her with the same stud I used before and the puppies were very little.
I KNOW I should still take her.I just dont have the money.
I guess I'm looking for ya all to pick on me...cause I know i deserve it. :(
So let me have it. I feel so guilty

Why would anyone beat you up when you are already doing such a good job of it yourself? ;)
Life happens, and its not like you expected this. Dont be so hard on yourself.
Is there any way you can talk to your vet and see if they can do a payment plan with you?

I tried to edit but it wouldnt let me.
I do have emergency fund for c-section if needed.

So I keep going back and forth...take her deb..then knowing if I do and she needs a c-section I will have to borrow money.
Its not bad here. 37.00 for office visit and 65 for xray
Its just money that I worry if I do need for her with a problem whelping I wont have.

I know I'm just bashing myself for it.
But I like to do things right for my babies :(

Although I believe in Xrays not every breeder does it :) Just for me knowing how many helps. I'd keep the money for an emergency instead :)

I don't breed and know nothing about it but just wanted you know know that I will keep your little momma in my prayers. We all feel guilty at one time or another. Don't let it eat you up.

I bet your vet would let you owe him the money. It's not that much and it's not like it's really costing him anything. It's more his services rendered.

I would say don't worry too much about the x-ray but it seems like you would really feel it's important. That's why I suggest you call the vet.

I hope everything works out perfectly.

If I were in your shoes, I would definitely save that money for an emergancy. Not being able to pay for x-rays is one thing..not being able to pay for a c-section is a different story.. good luck :)

Well pm me your email addy and I will paypal you the money for her xrays. I know how important it is to know, we are going for them next week. I know you were not asking for anyone to help, but I can and I want too:D

Money for C-secition is first. I know that.
There wouldnt even be a question in my mind if this was her first litter
or I had used a differnt stud.I'd take her and borrow the rest of themoney if a c-section was needed.

I am not trying to make you feel guilty, please let me do this for you and the baby, like I said I have one going next week for xrays and I know it will be a relief off you to have a idea of how many, I am sorry if I made you feel worse, but I consider you as a yt family member, and I can do this for you and I really want to so please let me.:)

I have a week and a half yet (april 3)
I will really be watching over her this time.
I know that they cant always tell you if the puppies are to big or not anyways.
Even with xray that looks fine , she still may need c-section.
Its just something I've done each time also.So I just feel guilty.

That is a very sweet gesture...
But I think you will be ok, we always get the x-rays done just in case...but they move and change position, can appear bigger or smaller than they really are, and of course they are not always accurate at counting puppies...so while you are beating yourself up about this...I think you deserve a pat on the back for being ready for a c-section...that is much more important and I agree save your money for an emergency.

I think your doing the right thing by saving for an emergency. Don't beat yourself up over it! No one can predict losing jobs and money issues.

I would set aside that money in case of emergency for her.

Gee I was brainless, I do hope all goes well with your baby... sending prayers you will not need to use your nest egg...

Since this is a repeat breeding and she had the other puppies just fine I would save the money for an emergency. I had my female xrayed at 57 days and the vet saw and so did I 4 puppies and to our surprise she had 6. So it is never a for sure thing anyway. I usually have them done but in this case I would say go ahead and pass.

Don't beat yourself up, bad times happen and you are saving the money for the right things. Alot of very experienced breeders do not believe in xrays! To each his own!! Best of luck to you and your girl! Hope your husband is back to work soon. It is a rough time for alot of people right now! Blessings to you!

It will cost more if there is a baby left behind and she gets sick, they will still have to do an xray to see if there is a baby still left behind because to give her oxytocin for no reason could be dangerous so if I were you, I would take my baby to get an xray, she may not need a c-section at all if what you say is true about the male being smaller than her although it's been my experience the size of the dogs you breed really does not guarantee you will have small dogs, or bigger dogs in my case I wanted to buy a female who would grow to be 6 to 7 pounds the breeder thought because she bred two yorkies over 6 pds that the girl I was buying would grow to be that big but she ended up being only 3 pds. It's better to be safe than sorry, take her for an xray, if you need extra money post an add on www.craigslist.org for the area you are in and as a side job if you have the time on weekends or what have you, walk dogs, offer doggy day care at your home if you can, if you know how to groom dogs put an add for that, just as side money to take care of your dog. I did that for a while, i'm a Realtor in CT and when the real estate market crashed having four dogs at home to take care of I had to do something to have extra money just for the dogs alone vet bills are throught the roof in CT and walking dogs on the weekends worked out great for me, just a suggestion.

To the OP -- Don't beat yourself up too much about this. At least you have the money saved for the c section if needed even in this hard time you are going through.

I can tell you truly love your babies and sometimes unexpected things come up! I know it will all work out for you!

I know breeders these days like to get x-rays but in my 15 years of breeding I only got them on a first breeding or if they were bred to a new stud. I don't think an x-ray every time is always necessary.

I am feeling the same way.
I am just not going to worry with it being her second litter with the same stud. And I know the amount of puppies arent correct a lot of the time.
Nor the growth.
But I feel better seeing some I really respect saying this.

I feel pretty safe ...she just under 7 lbs and its her 2nd litter and its the same stud.
On another note...I had to ::::giggle:::: about the dog walking.lol
I live wayyyyyy out in the country in Ohio.
Up until 2 years ago. Lot size min. was 7 acres !
It is now 4...anyways...no dog walking here.:p :p

Another funny point..this old lady a sweet neighbor of mine ,mile 4 miles away wanted one of my Yorkies. She is 83...after much talking my husband and I decided to tell her , we would trade a Yorkie for one of her calves.
She looked at me SHOCKED :eek: :eek: :eek:
They go for 400.00 here(calf)...Far under the price of a Yorkie...LOL
But the poor thing thought I was NUTS!!!!! :confused:
