These puppies didn't have a chance to get colstrum or anything else from her. my other one died because it was born with it's intestines outside the body. Thanks for the link tho. I already have the pet Drops and have used them daily. if I seem a little grouchy it's because I am. sorry. | I know this is an old thread, but I just wondered how common it is for pups to be born with the intestines on the outside. One of our little ones was born with the intestines outside - our vet said that she has tried to "fix" about 50 newborns with the same issue, and only 2 ever survived. The little one we had lived about 36 hours.
We had a "fading" puppy a few months ago that died within 24 hours - I am wondering if this was maybe why? Basically, if you aren't there to see the baby born, the mommy could just keep cleaning and cleaning the baby and continue to pull the intestines out, and you'd never "know" why the pup didn't make it.
I just wondered how common it is and if there is a reason why they are born that way (genetic, nutritional deficiency, etc). I mean, is there a way to prevent it? |
