*Puppy watch* i think! Troy is panting, and restless. she keeps walking around the living room then going back to her box. i can tell she really wants to go to my room cause she stands at the end of the hall looking at my door:p her temp is 99.0. (9pm) she won't sit or lay. she didn't eat anything really today. she is growning and her belly is rock hard... are we on puppy watch??? |
Sounds like it. She is having contractions sounds like. Keep us informed. They love having babies in the middle of the night and on the weekends! :D :D |
yeah i can tell now. everytime she has a contraction she gets up and walks around. this last one that she just had was strong and long. she threw up |
Hope everything goes smoothly! Let us know if you need anything! I will be up for awhile if I can help at all! |
Oh I think maybe babies tonight... good luck and safe delivery.... |
It sound like tonight is the night. Usually they will poop several times when they are getting close to having pups. I wish you luck. |
Good luck!!! Keep us posted! |
when will i know she is in stage 2? |
Hi Sounds Like they are Coming.... I am no breeder but I found this on Google... http://www.2ndchance.info/caninelaborstages.htm Stage Two of Labor: During the second stage of labor uterine contractions begin in force. As this stage progresses the placental water sacks break and a straw-colored fluid is passed. Placentas are expelled after each puppy or sporadically during labor. Pups usually appear every half-hour or so after ten to thirty minutes of forceful straining. As the pups deliver, the mother will lick the puppy clean and bite off the umbilical cord. It is important to let the mother do this, if she will, because through this process she bonds with her puppies and learns to recognize them as her own. The rough licking of the mother stimulates the puppies to breathe and improves their circulation. The mother will probably eat some of the afterbirths. If the bitch does not tear away the sac and lick the pups to stimulate respiration, the owner should tear the sac open, clear all fluid away from the pup's nose and mouth, and vigorously rub the pup to stimulate breathing. It is not uncommon, however, for the mother to take rests during labor and up to four hours can pass between some puppies. If more than four hours have passed without a puppy and you are certain more puppies are present take the dog to a veterinary hospital. Also seek assistance if the mother strains forcefully for over an hour without producing another pup. If you see the rear legs of a puppy protruding from the dog’s vagina you can assist the mother by gently pulling the puppy in a downward and rearward arcing motion. You must do this very gently because puppies are fragile and easily hurt. It is normal for many puppies to be born rear feet first or breach. When a mother dog is stuck in incomplete labor the first thing I do is administer oxytocin and calcium to stimulate uterine contractions. If the puppies are too big to pass through the birth canal or the oxytocin fails to induce successful labor, I perform a cesarean section on the dog. |
is it ok to let her walk around outside of the box as long as i watch her. she keeps trying to get out... well she was before she just got out when i got up to get on here and then she peed on my floor... i think she was a little PO and peed on the floor to teach me a lesson! but shes not trying to get out now. |

Try not to let her get out of the box, if one starts coming you definitely want her to be in there. She's definitely having contractions, and they don't ALWAYS throw their head back when they have them. Throwing up usually happens right before the puppies start coming. Keep watching her VERY closely. Have you seen a water sack? Try to keep her laying down as much as you can, even if you have to keep rubbing her to keep her calm. After she has a contraction lift up her leg and see if there's a bubble crowning. PM me if you need me! :) |
Good luck! |
What's happening now? |
uh oh...i'm going to assume this means she's having them? I hope everything is going well!! |
1am we got a boy!!! and ya'll gonna be mad at me! i saw a sack around 12. she burst it around 12:30 and then the contractions really started coming. Walker has been restless all night too. i need to go to the restroom and i couldn't hold it any longer. i ran to the bathroom and i should jingling behind me. i thought it was walker. but i turned to go back and see and sure enough she had foloowed me but went into my girls room instead...probably because i slamed the door. so she had it under my girls bed. its a futon bunk bed... not fun to get under for me. but i did and of course he was coming feet first. i wraped a towel around him and gently helped her push him out. hes so cute!!! she keeps licking him (hubby heard all the comotion and got up) i got the cord cut and cleaned him up a little and hubby got her back in the box. so they are both there now. ok gotta go shes having more contractions!! |
Congrats on the boy! Do you know how many she might be having? |
1:29 am another boy. puppies are eating and mom is licking and resting.. 2 down 3 to go!! |
Congrats again! hopefully they all will come under a hour apart. |
GIRL! 2:57am. i know no one is still up but i thought i'd tell it anyway. i fell asleep next to the box and Troy lead over to wake me and she had a puppy once she saw i was awake... wasn't that sweet of her. mommy is resting and puppies are feeding... 2 more to go...i'm so sleepy!!!:shocked7q |
i almost missed the next one posting!! another girl 3:07am yay! |
all here and accounted for! we got 3 boys and 2 girls. last one came at 4:03 am and he gave me a fit. it took me 10 minutes to get him to breathe. i don't ever wanna have to do that again. i thought i wasn't doing right but he finally came around. i'm so proud of myself!! but i don't ever have to do that again! i'm going to bed! |
