Question about Lacie?????
 
Ok doctor took xrays and it showed NO PUPPIES. It should have been her 54th day so it should have been the right time. on my last thread someone posted this statement below:

that is good news but.......i have seen here on yt and a friend of mine who had an xray and stated no puppies. one came home to 4 puppies all over the home and the other had one. i would have to say this does not happen often but keep an eye on here around her due date.

Question now:: I came home from work and she is leaking a clear discharge, what is this???????
Could the doctor be wrong? I have had other breeders also say one could be hiding...what does everyone here think?????

I've heard of dogs with false pregnancies going through a labor-like stage. So that could be what's happening. However, she may in fact be pregnant and the vet missed the puppies on x-rays and could be going into labor. Is your vet open? If so, I'd take her in to be looked at. You need to prepare in case she is actually giving birth. Keep us updated...I hope everything is okay. Defintely get her to a vet if you can for a check-up

I could call in to the vet, but I don' think it's labor.
She just has a little discharge of some clear liquid.
Do you feel I need to go in to the vet? There are no other signs of anything at all going on.
She is very comfortable right now. No panting, no contractions, no nesting or restlessness.
Is the discharge an abnormal thing? Has anyone had a false Pregnancy where the female started a discharge?
OR a false pregnancy where is WAS indeed real??

Keep your vet's phone number close in case you need it and just keep a good eye on her for now. Just make sure you're there with her in case she does actually go into labor

Thank you and I'll do that,
She's on my lap anytime I'm home.
May call in to work tomorrow if things don't look good.
I had already taken off thursday - sunday for the puppies before we were told we wouldn't be having any.

False preg. she wouldn't be leaking, but where is she leaking at, if its milk yes she could be having a false preg. but if she is leaking else where you may want to call your vet.

i am the one who posted. and yes, i have had people had an xray, dr states no puppies, and yep....here comes puppies. that is why i advised you to keep an eye on her when her due date is.
discharge could be from a number reasons but again, keep an eye on her.
vets have been known to be wrong

i have read that they can even start pushing during a false labor. i had a girl who went through this and it was the most nerve racking thing i have ever been through.

I agree with everyone else...I say watch her CLOSELY and keep that vets phone number handy. She certainly looked pregnant to me, although it COULD be false...but xrays aren't a 100% guarantee for ANYTHING...my cat Lily had a HUGE piece of gauze sponge left in her from her spay that was causing multiple infections and she almost died...they took I don't know how many xrays and NEVER saw it on there once. It was exploratory surgery before they ever found it. So be prepared for the worst. She could certainly have 1 or 2 in there. To be honest I wouldn't feel safe until a week or so after her "63rd day".

Have you been checking her temp? If not it probably won't make a difference....

Ok here they are...but my lighting is terrible. I'm sorry I can't get better shots.

I didn't start taking her temp since I didn't think I had pups comming.

Tummy doesnt look pregnant, hard to tell though:confused:
I've had a girl go through 3 false pregnancies, NEVER any discharge though.
Her vulva would be hugely swollen, nipples hard and swollen, even expressed milk but never had any discharge.

Hmmm...well I suppose it couldn't hurt...you might as well take her temp just in CASE. I don't know what else to tell you except to just keep a close eye on her. Don't hesitate to take her to the vet if you see anything unusual.

Temp is 100.2
but it's really warm in our house tonight also.
Does that make a difference???

She also just had a really loose stool. Also runny. with a little white slick look to it.

That's a pretty normal temp..a little on the low side though. The temp of your house shouldn't make a difference. Continue checking her temp to see if it starts dropping.

I would continue to take her temp, but more to make sure she does not get sick/infection. She does not look pregnant to me and it sounds very much like a false pregnancy. Everytime a female ovulates her progesterone will spike up and stay up for 9 weeks regardless of whether or not she is pregnant or having a false pregnancy!

My concern is you will see a temp drop but not see labor or puppies, because as the progesterone levels drop, the temp drops...and milk production starts. Even without puppies. My female who had puppies 7 weeks ago (first litter) had 3 false pregnancies before that because she was waiting to be bred until she was older...but she went through many changes just like expecting moms did. She produced so much milk we worried about mastitis everytime and watched her very carefully.

Can you feel puppies moving? kicking and rolling around? You should be able to feel that even if there is just one in there!

Nope no movement... I really don't think she has any puppies in there.

Did your female have a discharge? it is not as heavy right now as it was when I first got home.

how about the loose stool? Normal with false pg?

Definately the loose stools, on and off for a few days. I gave her some canned pumpkin which she hated but it helped!

She did not have a discharge that I remember, but with all the hormonal changes she is going through I would personally not be alarmed by it, especially if it is clear and odorless.
