Peanut had an emergency c-section...
 
Peanut went into labor and we had a serious problem with a dry birth and a puppy stuck that could not turn or come out. We rushed to the ER vet and after an emergency c-section and 2200.00 later. Peanut is now spayed and has a girl singleton to bring home tomorrow. We did lose the first pup unfortunately, but mom has survived the ordeal and has been spayed, she now can look foward to spending the rest of her life as a princess. I will be picking mom and her baby girl up tomorrow morning. My vet has not told me the sex of the pup that didn't make it as of yet.

Oh no :( I'm sorry for the loss of the puppy. I'm glad peanut and the other pup are doing well.

OH Deb, I am so sorry about the pup, but thank God Peanut is okay, and has one to love, I know its sad for you cause this was her last breeding, big hugs girl...:(

Ty so much hun and everyone for your support. I posted this to show how easily a free whelper can turn into a bad situation fast in hopes that more people will reconsider NOT breeding a female just because she come into heat.

I am glad your girl is ok. Sorry about the loss of the baby.
Can you explain a dry birth to me, I am not familiar with that.

The puppy didnt have a sac around it anymore as it was attempting to be born without the sac, hence the term "dry birth."

Oh Deb, I'm so sorry! How scary that had to be! It's good to know tho that Peanut and the baby girl are okay. Let us know how they are doing.

That's a good reminder to everyone, it can happen and you have to be prepared for the worst case.

Oh ,my word. How frightening for you. Glad Peanut is ok. Sorry about the one pup.
I was recently devastated to hear that CoCo's breeder just lost a mommy soon after a C section. She is a very responsible breeder and had to go on medication to help her cope. She said she had to pull herself together quickly to raise the puppies. Even if she didn't have a breeding clause in our contract I would never let CoCo have puppies.

I can't even imagine how worried you must have been. Sorry and congratulations.

Ty for the offer but I'm okay and might try to get some rest soon. I posted this to show how easily things can take a turn for the worst in the best of preparedness. I see so many ppl wanting to breed and doing it without knowing what to expect. I am hoping that me sharing this may show people who are considering breeding that they may need to stop and do alot more research before jumping in un-prepared. Peanut has delivered many litters with no problems, but things like this can happen in a second. I urge people who want to breed and are considering doing so to stop and take a good look at the cost, the problems that can and will arise, the risk the female and her babies can easily be in and then ask themselves if it is worth all these risks for them to still consider breeding.

I'm so sorry for your loss and thank you for the timely reminder. I've attended a dry birth and they do happen quite often. They can be so scary and you need to be able to access your vet at all hours of the night. People just don't always realize what they are getting themselves into. I had a lady who was interested in stud service tell me that she thought that you just stuck 2 dogs together and let nature take it's course. I'm afraid it's rarely that simple with these little angels and education is of the utmost importance.

I am glad to hear that Peanut and her baby girl are doing okay after the c-section and am sorry and saddened for the pup you lost. Hope all continues to go well with mom and daughter and look forward to pictures when everyone is feeling better.

How scarey and how fortunate it wasn't worse. I'm glad momma and her pup are okay. Prayers for mom's speedy recovery.

May I ask a question that I've wondered in these cases? I am assuming a
c-section means the puppy can't nurse from the mother now....is that right?

Give them both a snuggle from me....

oh, deb, I am so sorry and feel so stupid not asking about her when we talked yesterday. Praying mama and baby will be okay. i'm sorry for the loss of the other little one.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just went through exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago with one of my girls. She went into labor a week early. The dry birth baby did not make it and the large puppy that we had to have the c-section for had already died. It is sad and disappointing.. but I'm so relieved my little female was ok.... she is already back to normal...
and I'm glad your little Peanut is doing good and she has a baby to love.

I am happy for you that Peanut came threw her ordeal with at least one
puppy to show for her pain. Congratulations. I am so sorry for the loss
of one puppy. It must have been so frightening to go threw such an ordeal
for both of you. Give Peanut a hug from us.

Oh my! I'm so sorry about the pup you lost. Good to hear Mom and one baby are ok.
I have two girls that have free whelped with no problems and all of a sudden both of them had to be rushed to the ER in their last whelps. I'm thankful that neither needed a c. It can be so nerve racking, you just never know what is going to happen.
