She actually lives not far from me, only about 30 miles. I have seen her dogs in several shows around here. I'm not really one to judge her dogs though as just a novice observer of show yorkies. If I'm not mistaken, there are others here on the site that have her dogs. The ones I have seen all had pretty faces and were of smaller size. I couldn't tell anything about their coats from the distance I was.

I'm glad you are interested in showing. But here is my advice...go to shows, join a breed club and find a mentor first. Take handling classes, research pedigrees before entering the show ring or buying a show dog. It can be a very intimidating experience. Ask yourself these questions...what type of yorkie do I like, what pedigrees do I like, have I studied those pedigrees, what do I know about the health issues with yorkies, what kind of eye do I have for structure, movement. Do I know the correct lay back of the shoulders? Do I know what a good front and rear are? Can I tell the differences in coat texture and color? So many things to know before purchasing that first show dog. It takes a lot of research in my opinion before purchasing a first show dog.
Again, I'm just offering advice and it's not meant to be discouraging but you will need to know all this when entering into this fabulous world of showing and loving this breed.

Oh!! Please let me know how it goes, as I have been talking to Glenda as well. I'm looking at both of her boys that are prospects. Her dogs look just gorgeous, and she seems like a very gracious person. But I like a larger show dog. It's kinda scary buying that first show prospect, so I am carefully shopping....I know what I have in mind. Thanks!

MOST DEFINITELY .. GOING TO THE NEXT SHOW AND IM SO EXCITED ALSO WILL BE JOINING A CLUB AS WELL .. I HAVE A LOCAL MENTOR THAT HAS SHOWN FOR YEARS AND ALSO HANDLES ... IM SO EXCITED WE ARE HAVING TO GET SOME THINGS IN PLACE AND THEN IT WILL ALL BEGIN IM ONLY GOING TO USE HER FOR MENTORING... IM ALL FOR THE EDUCATION AND THAT IS WHAT IM DEPENDING ON THIS LADY TO HELP ME WITH ALONG WITH ANOTHER LADY LESS THAN A HOUR FROM ME. I REALIZE IT IS NOT JUST GETTING A YORKIE AND GETTING IN A RING.. MY MOTHER WAS A BREEDER OF COCKER SPANIELS. IM NOT INTO THE BREEDING SCENE I DO NOT HAVE A HEART FOR IT.... I ONY WANT TO SHOW AND TRAIN.. I LOVE THE TRAINING PART. I HAD SO MUCH FUN TRAINING BLEU HOWEVER SHOW TRAINING AND OBEDIENCE IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT I AM AWARE... IM A BOLD INDIVIDUAL AND IM NOT AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP OR ASK QUESTIONS. Good Luck, Vicki! I've been looking at Glenda's dogs for a while now. I've only heard good things about her so far. I hope you'll keep me updated on everything...showing sounds like so much fun!! I may be interested in showing one day myself (but it wouldn't be anytime soon...way too busy and not enough money)....but I too am not interested in breeding and don't want to get into that..so we'll see. I think you can have fun showing without breeding.

What you wrote in your previous post will be very helpful to you in the dog show world. :)
You do need to know what to look for (in structure) when looking at a Yorkie hopeful. Toplines/Fronts/Rears/tailsets/earsets/coat-textures/temperments. how well they move on the lead etc.
Part of it is what you like as far as type. Go for it but remember you want to start with the best you can. So take a deep breath and relax :)

Sorry, you cannot have my baby, I have totally fallen for her already!
I was planning on breeding my girl Bella on her last heat after years of researching and planning, but then she got sick.
I wasn't even looking and somehow happened upon Glenda's site. Saw Emmy and new she was my girl!
I am thinking of getting into showing, but not sure there are much in the way of dog shows in my area. So I will be doing research on that as I have some time.
This girl is so kissy, sweet, outgoing and so smart!
I liked the little one she had to, but I knew Emmy was mine and looking for a larger girl for breeding.

LOL....I didn't even know about her and how close she was until I went to my first show in Nov. 06. Here she is practically at my back door too!

If you're only 3-4 hours away would that be near Dallsa/Ft. Worth? Or closer to Sherman? The drive from that distance is doable in a day - you'll be tired that night though :) When would you be making the trip, soon I'm guessing?:D

Do you have to have a girl, she has a couple of boys, one is Emmys litter mate.
If you do only want a girl, I would consider waiting for her to have another litter. Her dogs are gorgeous!

I want one of her dogs too! I have her site bookmarked and I look at it every few days. I'm just a little nervous about taking the plunge and feel intimidated about showing. But she does have beautiful dogs and the members on here who have her dogs, seem to do well in the show ring. I've also emailed back and forth with her and she seems very nice. Good luck.
