tonyismybaby - i know we cant see peoples "tone of voice" on a thread but i find your post extremely rude, uncalled for, inapproiate & unneccessary.

to the op - i can tell you 95% of the yt's get a little touchy about the subject of mixing and you wont find much info here..i hope that someone will take the time out to at least answer some of your questions.

i understand that this is a YORKIETalk but i have never seen yt turn someone away who decided NOT to get a yorkie, infact several posters who decided to get another breeder was incouraged to keep posting and stay on with YT..so to basically tell the op to get lost if she wants to talk about morkies is uncalled for as well imo.

no matter how many people disagree with mixing the smaller dogs just as many agree to it..so instead of frightening the person away and letting her figure it out as she goes and possibly losing pets because no one would at least answer some questions is selfish. The breeding process is the same no matter what breeds are involved minus some issues.

you can pm me i dont have a lot of experience im only on my second litter of puppies that are due any day.

there also so great websites out there such as dogbreedinfo.com search for whelping...and the debbiejensen.com those 2 have great info and pics..also try googling whelping..you dont want to go into it blind

good luck with whatever you chose.

there are too many yorkies out there that don't even look like yorkies. so please do not do a mix!!!!! please keep the yorkie as a yorkie. i myself do have a yorkie mix along with purebred yorkies. i can tell you, the yorkies are much better off being yorkies. don't do this!!!!!

Well said !!!! I wish more people would keep this in mind

Use the "search" function and put "Morkie" in it. Lots of sites will pop up that have had discussions on either their Morkies, breeding Morkies, etc. Not everyone is down on mixed breeds. All breeds are developed from mixing several different breeds. Not everyone has the skill or should do this, but the Morkie is one that's already as developed as the Cockipoo, Yorkiepoo, etc. It's your dog and you're not trying to hurt it so observe the same safe guards that you would if you were breed a male Yorkie to a female Yorkie, and do it. Best of luck!

all I am going to say is I am one of the owners of a maltese, and Dutchess is very far from being stupid, very far from it actually....
I love my yorkies, I have 4 of them....But being predious... towards other breeds is wrong....
Being rude to someone as well is not going to help matters, maybe by giving some helpful advice, backed with documented, information, maybe she will change her mind, or maybe not.
Please remember behind the computer is a person with feelings.....

I am sorry people were rude to you. I don't understand why they couldn't have just put a polite "I believe yorkies should not be mixed" and left it at that You are talking about breeding a yorkie(even if it's not to another yorkie) so it is appropriate to ask about it here.

Anyway, both yorkies and maltese are pretty expensive, whereas a morkie might be a less expensive way for a person to enjoy the breed. I think anyone can use the excuse "there are too many dogs in shelters, why breed more" That goes for purebreds too.

I am not a breeder, nor would I ever be. My husband would consider all puppies our children and we'd be forced to keep them all

I would say -
Don't breed to make money, from what I've heard there isn't any money in breeding. There are plenty of morkie breeders out there so I wouldn't breed your dogs because there isn't a shortage of morkies. Just enjoy them as pets and love them. Pregnancy and birth is hard on a dog and raising puppies and finding them perfect homes is tough too. You'd be better off buying another puppy if you want one then breeding to get one. I'd offer the same advice to any person who considers breeding. There are enough breeders out there(good and bad).

Good luck with whatever you decide.

And please remember behind the person are little ones who also have feelings. I agree with you that maybe, just maybe we can change someone's mind that is going to breed mixed puppies. With the over surplus of over 5 million dogs destroyed every year I just don't see a reason for this. IMHO breeding dogs should only be for the betterment of the breed.

Trust me, I believe every dog should have a home and be loved but I certainly would love to see the amount of dogs breed every year to go down until we stop killling the extra ones.

Okay - I was not going to say anything, but here it goes.

#1. - I think she is very young in age. She has a goal and came up with this idea, because she loves the look of the two bred together.
I do not think you will find a reputable mentor that breeds morkies! Sorry - just a fact.

#2 - She has a lot to learn about breeding and why people should breed - "To better the dog toward the standard." Back a long time ago - breeding was a science and not just getting two dogs together. So think about your actions - they are like dominoes. You have to really think about the outcome of your actions.

#3 - I love Malteses too. I use to own one a long time ago and they are a very sweet breed of dog. They are really hard to keep white though. Reason I love yorkies so much - they don't show all the dirt. LOL

Why not think about breeding one or the other - not mixing. Have you looked at all the dog breeds? Maybe there is one purebreed of dog you will love more and just do not know it yet. Go to an AKC show in your area - you will see a lot breeds all in one area and then you can see which one suites you even better. :-)

Really? That's very interesting. Thanks!

In that case, I'll say that my statement is incorrect.

I would have to say that is a very good post also.Very well said in a NICE way.
I own a Maltese also and in no way is she STUPID.That offends me as well.
Yorkie talk is an OPEN forum, not just for those who think it is their way or the highway. It is better to educate then to be left out in the cold and learn nothing. You all should be taking the opportunity to educate those that you do not think has the right ethics about breeding but no you members would rather bash and bash and bash.get off your soap boxes.I for one get tired of hearing and reading the same thing over and over and over. And then the OP learns NOTHING from you except that you are rude!

I wish I lived where you're at, our humane society's around here never have any small dogs..
