I Need Help!
 
Hanna just just delivered her 2nd baby but the cord is this attached to the momma. I am assuming the placenta is still inside Hanna(Momma dog). Both babies are out but the cord is still attached. What do I do!?:eek:

Don't the mommies take care of that? Chewing, licking getting them to poop and stuff.

You need to be calm... what is mama doing?
I am not a Breeder and don;t want to give you the wrong advice but I know if you are showing that you are scared it will scare the mama.

She just pulled it out and was lifting the baby so I just cut the cord. Oh my gosh that scared me! AND ITS A GIRL!!!!!!!!!! YAY! At 7:26am she had a little boy and at 7:58 she had a little girl!!!!!!!! Everything seems to be fine. She just ate the placenta and the cord is cut! :) :thumbup:

I know what I do is take the cord about a 1/2 an inch from where it's attached to the puppy and make sure your hands are sterile and use your finger nails to scratch the cord and hold on to the cord on the other end as to not let it go back into the mom. Make sure you have idione to put on the umblicacord. Scraping with your finger nails is like the mothers teeth and if you aren't sure she expelled the placenta when all is done take her to the vet and get a pop shot. I know others clamp the cord but I've always helped by scraping the cord with my fingernails with no problems. I've never used the hemostats but I know other breeders do so I'm telling you what I do but make sure your hands are sterile

Congratulations on your new babies!! :) WHEW sounds like it was alittle tense there for awhile..Hope all is well with Momma and her babies!! :cool:

She is bleeding a little bit from her vagina........its red. Should I take her to the vet?

no matter how many you deliver, it is scary each time. no delivery is the same.

She's fine with that. Remember when a human delievers a child there is always blood also same with a female yorkie.
Did you know how many puppies she was going to have? I would take her to the vet this morning after she's had the puppies if you aren't sure all placentas were expelled. They need to be, if one is retained can cause infection.

She had 2. I just got off the phone with the vet. I have been calling them back and forth and the last placenta was expelled. She is feeding the little critters and she is doing great! When she had her last litter she had 2 little boys and this time she had a boy and a girl....and man is the little girl WHINEY! =) hehe but they are absolutely adorable! I'll post pictures as soon as I can! :thumbup: :thumbup: :) :) :p :p
