The only thing I do not have is a heating pad. My friend who breeds malteses will be using hers still when Cozy is due. Petedge is sold out of heating pads and I really don't want to spend and arm and a leg for a heating pad. Heat lamps scare me. |

Heating pads are readily available at discount store or pharmacy and they don't cost an arm and a leg. |

I can't find pet heat pads anywhere. The human heat pads I have found you can not accurately control the temp so it could accidently harm the puppies. My Walmarts don't have pet heat pads, near does Petsmart, Petco, or petvalue. |

Regardless of who let your dog out of her cage, the owner of the grooming place is at fault, not the employees. Whether or not you want to do anything about it is up to you (and/or the crazy lady with the male thinking she is entitled to stud fees, etc.) I can't help but wonder; how certain are you that it was Benny that she got PG from? Were there any other intact male dogs there at that time? Maybe the girls just said it was Benny.....just wondering. I know I'd want to be pretty positive of any possiblilites on who the daddy could have been. Whatever the case, I wish you the best of luck with your upcoming litter....I'll be watching for the happy event! |
So far Cozy is handling pregancy well. The vet thinks she may have +4 based on Ultrasound but can't be 99% sure until I get her an x-ray. I can be 100% sure of the outcome once all the puppies are born. Cozy and Benny were the only unaltered small dogs there that day as per staff and owner. There were unaltered big dogs but they could not have tied with her. A tie was also seen by the staff. The staff said they caged her after the tie. I found a heating pad on the offical SPCA website. Now I am supply prepared. |

I wish you nothing but the best and hope all works out for ya :) Also, I always put a diaper on Meka when she's in heat, expecially when going places. Maybe you can consider that as an option in the future :) |
What an unfortunate situation. But let me say first, the stud owner is entitled to NOTHING! At least NOTHING from YOU! No pick of the litter, no money compensation. NOTHING. You had no contract with her. Second, Don't let her give you the BS that it ruined her dog. It did nothing of the sort. That is an old wives tale. Tell her if she has a beef, to beef with the groomer. It IS the groomer's fault. yes, you took her when she was in heat, but you also responsibly let the groomer know and believe me the groomer knows that a dog in heat should not be let loose with an unaltered dog. It doesn't matter if the shop girls, the receptionist, or shop cleaner or the dog walker let her out. They are employed by the groomer and while they are being paid by the groomer, the groomer is responsible for thier actions. At the very least, the groomer should be held responsible for your vet bills. Also, someone mentioned putting a diaper on when in heat. A diaper will not stop them from tieing. It at the most may slow them down..... for about a microsecond. Don't let anyone bully you around on this. You REALLY need to hold the groomer responsible. If it came to small claims court, believe me, the groomer would pay. |
