Do you lie??? Just curious as to how everyone handles this |
I usually tell them I've decided to terminate this sell or I'm declining to sell to you. If they ask why, they get the reason. |
either 1 -3 or 4 its your puppy i wouldnt lie unless its one of those annoying people that wont go away |
i am very upfront about my reasons for not selling to certain people. BUT, one of the sales I cancelled to a YT member, I never did give her a reason other than that I "had found some things out". the reason would have been all over the board and would have terribly embarrassed this member. a few of my friends on here knew why. |
lies I have done all of the above...when I refused and gave true reasons, two (that I know about) reported me to Animal control. One threathened to sue, a retired cop told me he had a gun and would come visit me... When I said the pup was sold, people usually started crying or cussed their spouse for taking too long to decide etc..when I gave them no reason, they refused to take NO for an answer, kept calling asking for the pup..and when I ignored their calls, a few showed up on my doorstep..one time I was hiding in the foyer, (I saw car drive up) the people are knocking on the door and NOT leaving..up drives my husband home from work...I ran in the kennel when I heard him say.."come on in, Pat must be in the kennel"... |
WOW I had never thought about this before. But today I recieved an email about Moose. She lives in a trailer has 3 children ages 4, 5, 6 and she has a dog, but it's an "outside" dog. What the heck is an "outside" dog. I feel if I tell her the reason, then the next time she will just lie. So I don't really know what to tell her. if I tell her he's sold, I have to take my ad off of Puppy find, If I give her the real reason, she could just lie to the next person. I could try just ignoring her. |
Oh Man she just sent me another email asking me if I had gotten her last one. |
That's the way it is with placing pups, the hardest part is dealing with stupid people! If they are too hard headed to take the hint when you are ignoring them you simply have to tell them the truth. |
puppy In this case I would be up front..tell her this puppy would not be a good pet for small children and you want to wait until you have a bigger one to consider..(you will never have a bigger one!!!but she will not know) Of course, it is possible she might get someone else to buy it for her..in that case I would check the people who call very carefully... I had a woman come with her 18 yr old daughter to see a puppy..seemed so normal..but the 18 yr old went into my puppy room without me seeing her..comes out holding a wee male and says she wants that one..I told her he was not for sale. Daughter starts throwing a fit...demanded I sell it..so I said...$3000 thinking I was home safe (this was 15yrs ago) Mother says NO..daughter starts yelling, threathening her mother..I had to physically take the puppy from her...daughter is crying and acting unbalanced! Mother asked me to hold the puppy for a few days so she could get the money...I told them I would think it over...finally got them out and locked the door, made my husband answer the phone for days..NO caller ID then...I have dealt with all the nuts... |
Coming from someone who is looking to get a yorkie in the next couple of months, I would hope that any breeder who doesnt want to sell me one of his/her pups would tell me the truth. I suppose some people would just lie to the next breeder, but I know that I would use that as an opportunity to learn. Everyone has to start somewhere, and I'd rather find out what I'm doing wrong before I get my furbutt. Unfortunately, some breeders are just in it for the money and dont care who they sell to. If the first breeder I contacted sold to me with no questions asked, I would have made some pretty dumb mistakes. But, thankfully she told me the truth and it inspired me to educate myself. Here I am, 2 years later and I know a heck of a lot more than I did 2 years ago. The breeder who turned me down is a YT member (though I didnt even know about YT back then), and I respect her knowledge...and I absolutely respect the fact that she truly cares who her pups go to. In conclusion (lol), sometimes the truth hurts, but I think that by telling the truth you are honouring your pups by letting prospective buyers know what it is about them that makes them "unfit" to own one of your guys/gals. jmo :) |

I totally agree with you about the childrens ages and this outside dog thing. BUT!!! why does her living in a trailer have a negative reception??? I don't live in a trailer and never have but I have seen some really gorgeous ones in the suburbs. I am really curious. OR IS A MANUFACTURED HOME DIFFERENT THAN A TRAILER I just want to understand is all |
pup Kanka..YOU are a sane and reasonable person..unfortunately, the world is full of wacko's who want Yorkies also...think about road rage, makes no sense to hurt innocent people, but it happens everyday...same with a person who wants what they want, when they want it..I do not think some people have ever heard the word NO.... Hey, I am here in south Florida living in a trailer..but people are quick to correct me and say they are NOT trailers..they are manufactured homes..LOL |

What I'm concerned about, is that if I tell her the truth, that next time she will lie about her situation. Probably not to me, but to some other breeder. She lives in Texas, now I know there are a lot of yorkies in Texas, so I'm guessing she has been turned down before. |

People who live in the suburbs in a manufactured home would never describe their home as a trailor. |
