Crawling Puppies

Bellas pups eyes are all open now! yay! and now they are crawling...on crawled out of the box last night so i guess its time to switch to something better. What do you guys use for this stage? an ex pen? my mom is thinking a playpen for babies would work....my only concern is that Bella cant get in and out to nurse them herself...i would have to put her in it with them.... opinions please

Iset up a pen with a gate that is about a foot high. Mom can jump in and pups can't climb out until they are a bit bigger. The whelping box that I use is tall with a cutout that mom can come in and out of through while her teats are very heavy. Once the milk is established and she is smaller I turn the box around so that the cut out is against a wall. She can still jump in but the pups can't jump out.

I have a doggy playpen that has a opening that Lexie could get in and out but it has a 3 inch lip so the puppies couldn't get out

We go from the whelping box to the 12" fence(rabbit ex-pen) --I have an alcove we use for puppies in my office. When the puppies start acting interesed in the fence we graduate to an 24" ex-pen.

If I have to isolate one of the pups, we use the 12" ex-pen when they are little.

I use the travel bed made for babies. Yes you do have to put Mom in and out but my Moms don't mind.

i finally made a decision to just spend the 100 bucks and buy a puppy play pen! its really cute actually. It is blue and is just like a baby playpen but for puppies. I cant wait for it to come in! two puppies climbed out of the whelping box last night! little buggers! gotta love em!
