A buyer has no legal right to expect any money back for a puppy once it is sold except for health reasons. Anything you give them is simply a kindness IMO.

Did the owner of the pup give an indication if they expected to be reimbursed for the pup????

I also say I want to have any puppy/dog returned to me not rehomed or sold.

I would have the dog vet checked and I would rehome the dog. If there is any money--less expensives--they might get a refund if the dog is returned clean, unmatted, vaccinations up to date, no behaviorial problems from the dog--no aggression or overly-shy etc. My contract does not state that I will refund the money after several months. I would return the money if it didn't work out in the first week....and there is no other issues--

she wanted to know if i would reimberse part of her money or if she would just be at a loss for the amt, then called me back and wanted to know if id give half back, i just cant give half back knowing that it hasnt been given its rabies shot , was not started on heart worm preventative esp since i gave the first dose to them in a puppy pack, and i dont think it has been to vet her friend who she bought her older dog from gave it the vacinations for her, so i have no clue about worming or anything, and he hasnt been neutered yet and not sure about anything i am trying to write down ? to ask her so i can call her tomorrow, but at 7 months old i might not be able to resell and would then have to keep another male and have him neutered and she never even sent in the registration papers that i filled out selling to her .. oh well live and learn i say i will make sure and include this part in my contract for the new additions i have now that are only 5 days old lol when i sell them

tell you what I have found out is that the boys and especially the girls are easier to sell at that age than puppies.

This is what worked for me...I would meet the buyer at my vets (no one refused) and we made sure it was UTD on vaccines, healthy, parasite free etc..and then I took it home and resold it, giving the owner what ever I got less any expenses...I only charged for any vet fees if needed, not food or grooming.

YorkieRose that was a very nice post, from what I have seen here, as a well respected breeder, I can see you are, and that is nice to see. :D and I too would agree with you, good idea.

Wow, I cannot believe she did so little for that puppy in all those months. I think I am speechless...:(
I am sure you will find him a home, so many people want a yorkie and will look after their needs, but does not always have the larger cash to buy one initially.
The first two that I took in, I got them free and only had to have both altered..they were never denied a thing, lived a long life. I was one that did not want to spend big bucks for a yorkie at first. But I sure looked after them well.. They also made me addicted to yorkies. When I had taken in my first, it was yes not even seeing him, he had been badly abused..I did not even know what a yorkie looked like, I just wanted a small dog. :D
Yet there are people who can afford to buy like this girl did, and pay for one, and does not look after it..sad....:(

I know i was so upset that she didnt do anything for this little guy as far as follow care with vet and stuff it broke my heart.. the thing that made me the maddest was the fact that when i sell my puppies i send a puppy kit home with the first dose of heart worm preventative and a list of things and on that list it spesifically says that it needs to be given when they are 6 months old otherwise that have to be cked for heart worms before being put on the preventative my vets recomendation and u woulda thought since i gave them the first dose she would have at least given it to him herexcuse on that and rabies was well he doesnt go outside except in her back yard well thats outside lol

It is perfectly acceptable to ask other breeders to help out..many have helped me over the years...and I return the favor when ever possible.

I would not return any money to her since she has failed to keep the puppy vetted properly. I would contact your local Humane Society and ask if they have a "wish" book...I used to go look in the wish book, if I had a rescue, special needs or even a retired dog I wanted to place. People write down what they are hoping to find as a companion and the HS never had a problem with me calling anyone. I have made several life long friends from these placments. I had a small male who was a year..he was so shy, I never figured out his problem since his littermates were so outgoing..I found a great family in the wish book and they later got another Yorkie from a breeder who had broken her leg and limped.

Take a photo and place it in all the vet offices in your area..."seeking good home"..etc...and I am sure YT friends here will help you out...best wishes..

May I make a suggestion? To insure that you get the puppy back, so that she doesn't rehome him to an unsuitable home, tell her to bring him back, and after vet expenses etc., you will consider refunding 'some' money AFTER you place him...the key here is 'some' money...and advise her that you will not be able to sell him for the price of a puppy.

I am appalled that she did absolutely nothing for this little guy in all these months, and I hate to think of the way she may dispose of him.

i agree with the above post seems like she doesnt care bout the pup much maybe she just bought it to say she has a yorkie try to get him back at all cost and dont give her a dime

thanks everyone for all ur wonderful posts and help on this situation again yorkie talk people are the best and u all are so wonderfulim so glad that i came here when i did and joined this forum!!!! I have tryed numerous times and left messages to get ahold of her and she isnt returning my calls. I am concerned for this little guy breaks my heart and i thought she would be so good to him she has a pom that she has had for yrs and he is in such good health or appears to be abd well groomed and all...I will definately make a contract from now on when i sell my puppies. I screen now but guess some can slip thru that also...I will let u all know if i hear anything more.. AGAIN THANKS YOU ALL ARE THE BEST!!!!!
