so sorry to hear you lost one :( how's everyone else doing? |
what a huge litter, an easy way of feeding is a 3cc syringe with a baby nipple at the end...you can control how much their eating and they dont have to use a lot of strength to get it...take a large needle heat it up with a lighter or your stove pierce the center of the nipple...put water in the baby bottle and squeeze if you get large flow then your nipple hole is big enough... fill your syringe with the suppliment and put the nipple on; take the largest pups (leave the smaller ones on the teats) and suppliment them first slowly push the syringe, what they cant take in will come out the sides of their mouth, that will tell you if your doing it too fast...this young I would be feeding them every 2 hours during the day and every four hours during your bed time. Pups should be eating 3-5 cc's every two hours...To assure their not dehydrated, look at their skin if it is wrinkled on the back or neck they are not getting enough fluides...pinch the nape of the neck if the skin holds that too will tell you they need far more... hope this helps, good luck! |
4 Attachment(s) The other 8 are doing great and are thriving real well,i have tried to supplement them with royal canin puppy milk but they are not taking it yet,I think they are getting too much from trixie.I just keep making sure that she is getting plenty of good food, she is eating Royal canin mini junior and chicken and cheese and is on a calcium supplement. The puppies are starting to open their eyes now,I will take some pics in a few days and let you all see how well they are doing ,they will be 2 wks old on tuesday.I have 3 female dogs ,Trixie is the yorkie mom,Phoebe is the cavalier mom, her pups are almost 7 wks old and my pug sassy had 5 pups 7 days ago, here are some pics |
2 Attachment(s) and heres the cavs |
aww those pug babies and cavalier babies are very cute!!! I love cavaliers. They were my first pick for my first puppy but since i live at home and my mom didn't want all that hair around i decided to get a yorkie instead. |

Oh My gosh maybe you should be in the world book of Guiness's for 9 puppies I would check into it. Sorry to hear about the loss. You have puppy haven at your house wow. |
WOW! First I read about what seems like a record yorkie litter size of 9, and now I read and see that you are also busy with 2 other good sized litters???? You must be veeeeery busy! Thanks for taking the time to share pics of your other 2 litters; I've never seen new-born pugs before:p I am sorry to hear about the loss of one of the yorkied pups:( Good luck with all of the rest...and keep those pictures coming! |
glad ye all like my big brood, all 8 yorkies,4 cavs and 5 pugs are doing great,as you can imagine I am getting it hard to find the time to post pics but I will try to get time tomorrow.2 of the cavs are going to new home tomorrow and 1 the following day and the last one will go in 1 week   ,sad to see them go but they all are going to great loving homes:) :) .I wont be as busy then for about a week until the yorkies and pugs are about 4 wks old and then the hard work will start, its going to be mad:eek:  |
well all 8 puppies are doing great, they are 3 weeks old now and getting real cute,I will take some pics soon,I promise,I have started to try them with food, trixie is doing a great job feeding them still but want to get them started now on solids to give her a break.I might keep one myself if there is one that I get attached to but I do love them all,I still cant tell them apart, the hard work starts now with them, they are piddling everywhere now and trixie is not really cleaning the pooh now either,it is hard work trying to give them all a little attention,i hadnt really being handling them much up until the last 2 days so going to start cuddling and talking to them more now,all 8 of them:confused:  |
Wow! Just found this thread. How exciting! Can't wait to see pics. Would be even greater to see video of them playing. I just love it when we have babies in the house! |
You must drop into bed at night and pass out:p I did with only one pup to take care off! Bless you and all your babies. That was some Yorkie litter. 9, now that's amazing. I am so sorry you lost the little girl. Congratulations on doing such a fantastic job in keeping them all happy and healthy. |
That is great to hear that all the pups are doing great. They must keep you very busy!! I have 3 pups and they are keeping me busy enough. Any recent pictures of the yorkie babies? I love the pictures of the cavaliers, do you have any more pictures of them? I have always wanted a cavalier, I almost got one but after hearing about a common heart problem that all cavaliers have I couldn't deal with the fact that if I got one it would eventually end up with this problem, I was so disappointed because I really love the breed.:( |
Wow!!! Just saw your thread, I thought I had my hands full when I had the two litters in my house, you must be super busy. Try to find some time for yourself. |
1 Attachment(s) Time to myself, whats that:questione :questione The cavaliers are a lovely breed but it is such a pity they have so many health issues,I have a male and female who are 4 yrs old and so far they are in good health:) one of the big things with them is keeping the weight down ,you see so many who are overweight and this leads to big health problems.they have all gone to their new homes now so i will miss them, especially the little girl as I had her in t he house the last few days as her brothers were gone and I didnt like to leave her on her own so she was in with us and we all got attached to her but she is gone to people who will love her lots. This is apic of her |
litter Years ago there was a photo of a litter of 10 in the old magazie.."Yorkie Tales"... I think dogs are having larger litters due to better nutrition in the last 10 yrs and that leads to a stronger, more vital dam.. |

I want one so bad as I just adore spaniels but I just can't get past the heart condition they have and their short life span. Maybe someday. |
