It's been confirmed, my Kayla is pregnant and she will be giving birth to her babies sometime between December 6-10.

I can't wait! This is our first time having a litter of puppies so any advice is welcome. I've looked up a lot of things already and I think I'm well prepared, but then again one can never be too prepared.

Congratulations on your upcoming litter! It sounds like you are already doing what advice I would have given you....read, read, read, and then read some more. That's what I did and I think it helped me tremendously. If you have someone with experiance at whelping it's also a good idea to have them available to assist you if needed. Good luck and I'll be watching the threads for your puppies' birthday!

Congrats on your new up coming litter! Since this is also my 1st litter, I went out and looked for books to read, searched and printed out info from the net. Watched a whelping dvd. I took in (and still am) all the advice that has been given to me from the support of YT. Just make sure you have all your items all ready to go. I wish you and your mama all the luck!

also try googling "yorkie whelping" you will get lots of info

That is wonderful news! Congratulations! I am hoping that my yorkie, Lily, is pregnant. I will take her in to see the vet on Tuesday. If she is she will be due Dec. 22nd! She isn't showing at all yet. Today is day 27. How soon did your yorkie show? I am so excited for you!!!!

Kayla didn't start showing until here recently and she's about 3 weeks away from giving birth. She's basically just a little pudgy in the tummy. If I feel around a little I can feel about three small lumps so far. I hope your little Lily is pregnant too. It's so exciting!

December 6th seems soooo far away right now!

Thanks for all the congratulations everyone! I'm still searching the net and finding all the information I can about the whelping process. Like I said before I don't think one can ever be too prepared, especially being our first time.

How is Kayla doing? She only has a little over a week left now! My little Lily is beginning to show now! I don't take her to the vet until she is on day 45, but I can tell that she has some little babies in there! She isn't that big at all, but I do see a swelling in her belly! Today she is on day 38. Did Kayla have an X-Ray or ultrasound done? If so, at what stage of her pregnancy?

I know, it's a little sooner than I had expected. I wasn't wanting to breed her and Cory until the spring, but one night when I wasn't watching them, they had other plans.

I wanted Cory to at least be a year old before I bred them and he won't be a year old until the 30th of next month, a day after Izzy's.

Oh, wouldn't that be fun to have a joint birthday party for them! lol

I'll definitely post pics the moment they are born...well, maybe not the moment they are born but close there after.

It's such a shame the weather isn't nicer we could have another meetup and I could bring all the little ones. It'd be interesting to see how the older ones would interact with the babies.

Kayla is doing well. She's really mopey right now though, doesn't want to walk too far when I take her out for walks, but she is eating well and getting bigger by the day! Not sure if it's from the puppies or from all the eating she is doing!

And how are your little ones doing? I can't believe they are already on their second week! It's making me realize just how fast they grow up and how fast my little ones will grow. Kind of sad, because that means that they'll only be a part of my life for a short period of time before they go to their forever homes.

Oh, yay! So little Lily is pregnant? That's great news!

Congratulations on your upcoming litter! Kayla never did have an x-ray or ultrasound and now I'm kind of regretting it, because I'm so anxious to see how many she is going to have. The vet said it looked and felt like she was going to have a larger litter of about 6 or 7, but when I feel her tummy I can only feel three lumps, two on her left side and one on her right. They do feel rather large though, so I don't know if maybe I'm feeling more than one at a time and it just feels like one or whether it is just one. So, I highly suggest you getting Lily and x-ray or ultrasound, I'm sure your vet could tell you at which stage to bring her in. And good luck to you and Lily, I'll be awaiting your puppy watch thread.
