Will I know when she drops? Do they all drop?

"she is going to burst" lol, I remember that feeling ( my lil guy is 3 mth) What a belly :D I'm sure she is just as ready for them to come as you are! How is she acting today? temp still down? did you know about when she is due? I've got my :xfingers: for you and her as well!

Her temp was 99.5 this morning and she is still eating real good. She is still scoping out hiding places. She will be laying down and all of a suddon she will get up and start this thing where she nestles her nose in her bed, butt up in the air, and she makes this lil growling, whining, squealy noise lol it's hard to describe, but it's the funniest thing to watch lol
But she will lay down and then 5 minutes later get up and go walk around, then come back in and lay down and she just keeps doing this over and over lol

Yes they drop as the pups get into position for birth. You'll be able to tell because if you stand above her she won't even look pregnant anymore. The bulk of the bulge will have dropped towards the floor and she will look narrow in her rib cage, kinda pear-shaped when viewed from behind.

what a face on your little girl, can I suggest after you whelp make sure you tie up moms coat, she has so much and if it gets caught while the puppies are rooting around it can strangle them...I use the little baby soft bands and pull up in the center of the back...

good luck hope you have an easy whelp!

Thanks for the heads up! I was planning on putting her hair up cause your right, she has such a thick coat and I would hate to have anything happen!

Hope all goes well with your sweet girl and babies.

You may want to shave her belly if you haven't already. That way if she ends up needing a section they (the vets) won't give her a bad haircut and cut off half of her skirt like they did on my little girl. She will already by done. I have also heard some breeders say the vibrations from the clippers can trigger contractions, so if she's ready...

Sounds like she is getting close!! I can't wait to see the puppies!!

She may not show any signs of prelabor so keep a close eye on her. Destiny's temperature was normal and she was eating normal. The all the sudden she whined once so I took her temperature and it had dropped from an hour earlier. Within 5 minutes she had the first puppy.
Oh and her belly was huge as well, and she had only 3 pups.

Good luck with the upcoming delivery!! Keep us posted!!

Also be careful of the "beard" hair too. kandy dragged one of her three day old babies out of the whelping box and was carrying it around tangled in her beard. I have shaved her belly once, but I think I will do it again.

Still no puppies, she is doing good though, sleeping through the night. She is at work with me today. :)

Maybe the vibrations from that belly buzz will get the labor started LOL That is very cool that you can take her to work with you...where do you work? I have been watching this thread since it started and will keep my eyes on it for whelping time. I remember you were wondering if she would whelp last week. Is she at her due date yet...past it?
