Heartbroken

I am new to this website and first just wanted to say hi. I had a beautiful yorkie for 3 years and just 3 weeks ago she shockingly passed away. She was perfectly healthy and full of energy just the night before. We noticed a change in her behavior that morning, took her to the vet and before we new it she was on oxygen and then passed away. We later did an autopsy and found out that her intestines had twisted, this is also known as Bloat. Our vet was in shock, because she said this only happens to big animals and never to small ones, expecially 5 lbs. I just wanted to know if anyone knows of this happening to another yorkie. We cant accept the fact that she was only 3 years old and left us so suddenly. I am heartbroken and would love to get another yorkie like her but I am scared this would happen again.

![]() | Dear Tara, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your yorkie. This is my first post. I just got an 8 month old male Yorkie named Baron. He is healing my heart since the loss of my beloved Raine on 08-08-07 at the age of 9 years. I was a Vet. Tech. and all the dogs we lost to bloat were 40 lbs. and over. They usually had eaten and had then been left to exercise too soon. I lost a Shar-Pei to Kidney failure at the age of 2 years and 2 weeks.I went on to own and show 3 more without this chronic condition affecting any of the others. I hope this helps you to begin to heal over the loss of your little one. Take-Care, Jodi G. |
