Poop eaters

I have 2 male yorkies, that whenever given the chance will eat poop! Living out in the country you just never know what they are eating. I never let them run. When I take them for a walk around the property, they are on a leash, but that doesn't always work. Because, before I see the deer, cat or who knows what elses poop, they've already got it in their mouths. Are they lacking in something in their diets, or is this normal? Any solutions? Donna:

![]() | Hey. Yes, it comes from 2 things. Their mother did it when cleaning the area in which she had them or they are still smelling what ever they ate. It means they aren't getting enough protein in their diet to break down food. It is suggested that you give them fresh pineapple. They will like it going down but the bitterness after digested in their poop will detour them from eating it. As for the other animal's poop. Don't know how to help you stop that if you don't see it before they do. |

![]() | PoopThis is my second try on this, my little yorkie does the same thing. We have two cats and he goes into the litter box and tries to eat their poop.I have now blocked off the litter box so he is unable to get to it but wonder why he does it. He is on a very good diet according to the vet so if you have any suggestions on this we would love to hear them. Many thanks and hope you are having a nice Saturday evening. |

![]() | Hello, my dogs eat duck poop, yuck. My mom lives on a lake and ducks are everywhere. I bring them there to let them run loose and play. My younger dog ALWAYS eats the duck poop, my older one on occasion. I thought my dogs where on a good diet... |

![]() | One of our Yorkies did the same thing. Ate his own poop when he was 4 months old but stopped when he got sick and had to go on antibiotics. |
