My 19 year old Grandaughter fell in love with a Yorkie puppy and bought him not realizing how much care he would need. Fast Forward to 2 years. She finally realized he was more than she could handle and gave him to us. He is not housebroken. He does not bark. She gave us everything that she had including the crate she tried to use. I am trying to train him this way by taking him out every 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. It works if I get him to go out. My concern is he doesn't know enough to bark to let me know he has to go. He does whine a little and if I hear him I go to get him out. Now he knows what the crate is and he resists getting in there. How do I convey that he needs to let me know somehow.

![]() | There are soem sites that say to hang a bell by the door low enough for him to touch with his nose and let you know. You might try that and see if it works. |
