My Relay for Life Team
Posted 04-18-2008 at 07:42 AM by AngieDoogles
My family and I have decided to make a team for Relay for Life. In case you don't know, my mother is currently fighting cancer. She is our team leader and I am doing this in honor of her and also so that other cancer patients and their families might have an easier road with better treatments and less side effects. Watching Mom take chemo and then feel absolutely terrible for weeks afterward, time after time, has been one of the most painful experiences of my life. Help me support the American Cancer Society so that someday there might be a cure. I don't want ANYONE to have to go through what my mom and my family have had to endure this year.
Also, if you could keep Mom in your prayers this coming Wednesday, we would really appreciate it. She will be having a mastectomy and I'm so worried about her. I'm hoping to have a huge amount of donations by then so that she can go into surgery feeling very positive and uplifted! Thank you for considering supporting my family in this cause!
Here is my personal page where you can donate.
A message from the American Cancer Society:
Can you believe that more than 1.3 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in the United States this year? Those are staggering statistics, but there is hope. Each of us can do something to save lives and help those already fighting this disease. That's why I've decided to take action against cancer by supporting the American Cancer Society Relay For LifeŽ event right here in my community.
Relay For Life is an overnight event that brings our community together to help support the American Cancer Society and its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. The Society works hard every day to prevent cancer and save lives by supporting groundbreaking research, affecting public policies that protect us from cancer, and educating people on how to prevent or detect cancer early. The Society helps people with cancer right here in our own community. And our efforts at Relay For Life can help the American Cancer Society to keep working toward a cancer-free future.
I want to invite you to show your support in the ongoing fight against cancer by joining us for this year's event. Please click on the link below for more information, including details on the inspirational Survivors' Lap and the moving Luminaria Ceremony. We hope to see you there! If you can't join us, will you please visit the site and make a donation to support our efforts? Either way, you will make a real difference in the lives of people facing cancer and in the lives of the people who love them. Thank you!

How is your mom doing now? I lost my mom to ovarian cancer in Dec 2007 and I miss her so much! Try to spend as much time as you can with her and enjoy life together... I know what you mean about the chemo treatments, the couple of weeks after the treatment are the worst!!

Hi There! I hope your Mom is doing okay, I don't know you guys but, I think cancer is something that affects so many of our loved ones. My friend and I are walking in July in the Avon walk for breast cancer (40 miles) in San Francisco. It feels good to be a part of something good and can benefit so many women and men. Good Luck!
