Venting..........

What a week it's been! I've been spitting nails since Saturday...starting with my daughter's cheer coach. My daughter is in competitive cheerleading. She rarely misses.
They had practice this past Saturday. Unfortunately, I had to work and my husband had classes. In-laws were going out of town to do their own thing and couldn't take her (not that they would have anyway since I've been told that my daughter is not their grandchild, they really don't care about her...coming from my FIL) so I called the coach Friday evening to let her know.
Saturday, she leaves me this RUDE message on my cell about how this practice has been on the calendar for over a month, that was the reason why she gave out calendars, my daughter's absence would be considere UNEXCUSED and that there was NO reason why she should have missed!
Being that the cheer coach is only 19, I decided it would be best to not call her back. I was just planning on talking to the gym owner on Monday.
Last night, the coach came up to me to apologize. She tells me that she is under a lot of stress with school and the upcoming competition.
I calmly tell her..."You have NO idea what is going on in my life. I work 2 jobs while my husband is going to school. You're message was rude, not appreciated and uncalled for!" She apologized and I accepted it.
Not even 10 minutes later, she is completely going off on this other mom (daughter had a school project due on Tuesday)....practically yelling at her then walked away! She apologized to her later.
I realize that the girl is young...but even when I was 19, I KNEW to respect my elders. Stress or not, she has NO business talking to anyone like that! We are PAYING customers!!! Now, my daughter wants to drop cheer and two other parents have said that they're pulling their kids out after competition.
Today, my 7 year old son was written up twice at school. Now, I know that my child is not perfect but one of the people that wrote him up seems to have issues! It seems that everytime my child is around her, she's writing him up for something.
She's subbing at our school all week so I'm going to pull her aside to find out what the problem is!

Lordy! you have been having a very difficult time! Here's hoping it gets better real soon for you!
(not that they would have anyway since I've been told that my daughter is not their grandchild, they really don't care about her...coming from my FIL)
This is absolutely shameful! I know that they have no idea what an opportunity has been given them to make a difference in the life of a child. I know other 'people' like that and it makes me feel ill. AND...I certainly agree with you about the young cheer coach. If she is apologising that much it should be a wake up call for her, wouldn't you think? I wouldn't take it either. You go get 'em, girl! LOL

Awwwww I remember those days when my daughter was in cheer competitions with her All-Star squad...but I hope you don't mind my opinion here but the 19 year old coach to me is way to young to be teaching for a competition alone. I know my daughter's All-Star coaches were well experienced in the teaching of cheering and gymnastics. I would be very careful as to who was instructing my daughter LOL...being 19 and a helper maybe but not the full time coach. Please dont' take that wrong There are safety issues here more so than her lack of experience in dealing with parents much older than her. Good Luck! Awwwwww the good ole days! I'm glad they are over! Donna Bird
