hair loss in yorkie-poo

I seen where other yorkie's have lost hair in patches. Mine looks like someone has shaved her in spots. My vet is no help, just keeps selling me shampoo. They appear overnight. There is no scatching. I will have
thyroid checked. Any other ideas. She is 5
months old.
