My dog has been limping

The other day, my two yorkies were play fighting. Then, my bigger one hurts my smaller one's back leg. (Yea ... my bigger one likes to attack the smaller one's back leg a lot.) My smaller one has been limping since last thursday. She has been trying not to use her back right leg. She doesn't look like she is in pain, or having any bone fractures. However, she hasn't been using that leg. She doesn't feel the pain if I touch the leg. She can even run for treats, but most of the time she avoids using that leg or put the foot down completely. Should I be concerend? or is it just a matter of time before she completely feels okay to put that foot down and use it? (Does the injury sound like injury related to tissue, tendon, or nerve? will it recover by itself?) I have been helping her avoid jumping or climbing up and down the stairs so that she doesn't injure any of her three other legs.

![]() | I agree, best to play safe and get it checked out, esspecially as its been a couple of days. Might be the nerve. My two are the same, always playing rough. Hope everything checks out o.kay. |

![]() | Thank you everyone. I have my baby checked out by the vet. The final diagnosis is unclear yet, because she was too tight when the vet tried to check her. The vet can't feel her knee cap well when she was that tight. I didn't let the vet sedate her and do an x-ray on her, so I came home with two types of pain med for her. She was all done with the medicines. I let her avoid jumping up to sofa like before, jumping down is often unavoidable, she is too fast for me. Now she is willing to stand on all four legs, except she still looks limping walking from time to time. The leg looks stiff as well. I am hoping she is going to recover slowly by herself. I believe she has LP (luxating patella) just like many other yorkies. I bought the liquid flexicose glucosamine for her, and she has been taking it since she was done with the pain killer which also treats the inflammation. She does look like she is making improvement. I am crossing my fingers on this. I am also trying to keep her weight down. (I have two big yorkies! yea ....) If yorkies are prone to LP, knee caps issues, ligament tear, arthritis ... I am hoping this liquid glucosamine can help her throughout her life. |
