I don't wanna be a newbie anymore. I have had my Yorkie baby for a year and a half. He is so precious. He will be two years old in August. When my daughter and I got the little thing we had a really tough time. He did great for about a week and then wow, he was shaking, wouldn't eat, threw up and just curled up in a little ball wanting you to hold him all the time. I immediately took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with hypoglycemia, which meant his blood sugar would drop so low it could have killed him, (BUT this was a huge blessing because we thought it may have been Liver Shunt) the little guy ONLY weighed 3/4th of a pound by now. So... luckily my daughter's school was very close to our house and she would come home everyday at lunch to feed him and make sure he had enough NutriCal in him to get his sugar up until she could get home from school and give it to him again. When I got home from work it was my turn to play puppy nurse and I would get up every 4 hours during the night to take care of him. Just like having a newborn again. During the 6 week period we did this I had him in the vet two seperate times to get IV glucose. The vet felt like if we could get him over that 1 pound mark and keep him there we would rebound and be fine. And he was right. Max is great. He is now a happy 4.5 pound guy. One day I was playing with him and noticed the had two rows of teeth. Looked like a baby "Jaws".
Well... here we go back to the hospital 11 baby teeth extracted, and while we were at it we had him neutered. At a year old 2 more mystery teeth appeared. Back to surgery, went ahead and had a dental cleaning at the time.
Little Max has brought so much joy to my life. I love to spend time with him. When my daughter and I go on trips he goes with us. He is a great little traveler and loves the Ocean. We are going on a trip in June and we are flying so he can't go and it breaks my heart to have to leave him here. We have never been anywhere that we hasn't gone. I will probably be the one with seperation anxiety.
Enough for now. Take care Yorkie Lovers.....
