Hello everyone,
I am new to YT and I just wanted to introduce myself and my 3 adorable yorkies. Their names are Katie, Sammy and Zoey.
I do have one question though. I was wondering if anyone has heard of yorkies having bad hips. I took my little boy to the groomers and a day or so after he started limping. We took him to the vet and he has uneven hips and a bruised bone. The vet said it could be the way he is growing but that doesn't explain the bruised bone. I grew up with yorkies and never had heard of this, if you have any kind of info about this please let me know! My little boy is still limping and is on pain meds. Thanks!

![]() | I've got a 14 month old male that started limping around at about 8 or 9 months and we took him to a local vet and they thought it was a luxating patella and referred us to another vet which determined that his hip was deteriorating and that it was a genetic defect. We had to have his hip popped out of socket and shaved down and now he has to rely on his muscles to make the movement. At first he still wouldn't use the back leg but now 2 months after surgery he has gotten to where he is using it a bit more. Apparently it is pretty common in yorkies! |
