Ants in the food...

Hello!
Skooter is staying fenced inside my kitchen which is rather large when I go to work. He has his bed and a lot of toys. In one corner I leave a wee-wee pad in case he has to go. On the other side I put a doily with a bowl of water and dry food.
Last night I came home and noticed he had not touched his food. I just thought he wasn’t hungry because sometimes he’s finicky, especially if he’s home alone. I picked up the food bowl and noticed it was full of ants.
Has anyone been having this problem? If so, what have you done to fix it? Skooter is 9 months and I always leave food out for him.
