My budgie Taffy, passed away today. He was very old, about 16yrs, he belonged to my parents, but after my Dad passed away 11yrs ago I have looked after him. I feel his death is another bond broken with my Mom & Dad. I am an only child and lost my Mom when I was 36 and my Dad when I was 40.

I think that's why I have so many pets!! I need a "family". My Hubby and only son are all I've got. Sorry to ramble on, but I an so sad.

RIP Taffy.

This is the hardest part about loving animals; when we have to say goodbye. I'm so sorry you are hurting and I hope you'll post here every day if you need to. Talking with other animal lovers who understand your grief can be helpful. Please know there are many people who are keeping you in their prayers and thoughts.

Thank you all for your support. YT is the BEST place to be at times like this.
I am feeling better tonight. Hubby gave me a hug and Taffy is burried under the big Yellowwood tree with all the other pets (hamsters, dogs and cat) we have lost over the years.

Hi Sheilagh...Gosh I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Taffy. This is really sad. I too have lost both of my parents...after my dad died, my sister got possession of his dog, Spike. I go and visit with Spike, as he is all I have left of my dad. Dad got Spike after the death of my mom, to keep him company...He was great with him, it always amazed me. Spike was a gift from above, I truly believe that. So for you to have lost that last tie with your parents just breaks my heart. You have my deepest sympathy. May Taffy rest in peaceful sleep. Again, I am so very sorry...
Oh by the way...You have family here with us at YorkieTalk, from all over the world. So please don't feel sad and lonely, I know I'll be here for you...as many others will too. Hugs to you from Illinois!!!

I'm so sorry that your Taffy passed away.

I had a very similar thing happen to me. My mom got her dog GiGi when my dad passed away. When my mom passed away GiGi was 13 years old. I took GiGi into my care and had her for 3 years. I had to have her PTS because she had kidney failure. So, I know where you comming from, I not only felt so.... bad the day I took her to the vets for that but I felt she was the only living bond that I still had with my mom and now that was gone also. Time does really help the pain your feeling now. And you did not ramble on. We are all here to listen and to share our experiences.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss (all of your losses). Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is the hardest thing we have to do as pet owners. I'm praying for you.
