I am a member on a horse-related forum and this thread was posted. He needs a home by Friday this week, and his plane ticket would be paid for by the rescue. Please look into it if you can offer him a home, he doesn't have much time left!
Here's the original post
"You might remember the thread regarding Billie, the GSD. Sadly, after much effort and labour by two qualified surgeons, the extent of the damage was beyond repair and she had to PTS. I would write more, but it's just really hard right now, dealing with losing her after everything she had been through, abuse, life, getting rescue, etc. There is money left from all our fundraising, after paying the vet bill, and we thought the easiest and most appropiate thing was to channell it into another worthy animal, so that Billie's struggle would not have been in vain.
There is a very sad, depressed GSD shepherd mix male at Clayton AC, in Johnesborough, GA (You can find the shelter on petfinder and look him up, he's listed as "Bandit") He is older, about 8 or 9, and very very sad. He's given up hope and has stopped eating, he is so sad and depressed. He knows that his time is up on Friday and that no-one wants a big, "old" dog. Bandit is housetrained, knows how to sit, shake, stay, and is very sweet, gentle, quiet, and loving. I can't think of a more fitting memorial to Billie's fight to live, than to help "one of her own" make it out of this high kill, gassing shelter. I've posted this on several forums, but am posting it here as I have personally experianced the love, compassion, and generosity that HGSF members all seem to have in common. There is enough left over from the Billie fund to help this guy. Just the amount left from my personal donations from my early xmas money, is enough to buy Bandit a plane ticket to get him anywhere in the US. I believe if this sweet guy comes with his own personal ticket, his options will dramatically improve! Clayton has a hard time adopting animals out, so Bandit is as good as dead, come Friday, or possibly sooner, if no-one steps forward. If you are interested in taking this precious boy into your home, please email me:
theturboexpress@gmail.com, ASAP, as I check my email more frequently than my PM's. All I ask is that you provide a vet reference, or some other sort of "good faith" effort so that I and the volunteers who are trying to save him know he is going to a good home that is serious about giving him a forever home."
