HeEEeeY! evryone
I was wondering for all of yous that live in TEXAS. . . HOW IS IT OVER THERE? are there alot of things to do? How is the weather... please do tell in details?? The house are they beautiful. I would love to know!! since my future hubby is talking to me about moving and buying a house over there sometime in the future. People tell me it's nice. . . but I wanna hear from the people who live in TX.

There is alot to do in Texas, and Texas also has alot of history

It gets VERY hot here though, I would say that is the thing that I HATE the most. I know it is hot in alot of places, but it is very HUMID here...which means that it always feels much hotter than it actually is. Usually 90 degrees will feel like 110

As for the houses, yes of course there are gorgeous homes here

I mean of course it would depend on the price range you are looking at and of course the neighborhood

Where in Texas will he be buying you a home? East Texas is really nice - alot prettier than the South lol. It just all depends on where you are going

Well I tell him I wanna get a big cozy house so I can have more yorkies running around! lol... I wanna be in a nice neighbohood... you knkow calm and quiet he was saying maybe around Dallas?but then again I am telling him I would want to look around first. We both were looking at houses online with the virtual tours OoOuU AND i like what I see! hehe... so it all depends there are a lot of choices! Yes I know I have heard it gets extremely hot!

Texas is REALLY BIG - so what someone thinks of Texas in the north will be very different from those in the south.

The Texas panhandle is very flat, not many trees, the wind blows, it is pretty cold in winter and they get quite a bit of snow. There are some gorgeous places though - the canyon outside of Amarillo is spectacular.

West Texas is also very flat with very few trees, but the fields of grain, corn, etc. are beautiful as are the irrigation machinery they have to help the crops grow.

South Texas is quite diverse, from El Paso to Lousiana - you have the coast, you have lots of rivers and you have some flat and some hills. Big Bend is in southwest Texas and it has beautiful mountains and looks somewhat like New Mexico.

East Texas is a forest - looks like Arkansas. It is gorgeous and very very different from west Texas.

I am in Central Texas - parts are flat, parts are hilly with lots of trees.

Also, there is a BIG difference in the cities in Texas - Austin is VERY laid back, liberal, and folksy. The city motto is "Keep Austin Wierd". Dallas and Houston are much more cosmopolitan. San Antonio is very touristy - lots of military bases also. Amarillo is very cowboyish/western.

So, you can be in Texas and depending on where you are it can be very very different from other parts of Texas!

But - come on down!

LOL Rowdys mom covered it ALL and very accurately....I'm in houston - cosmo city - bad traffic - but as far as buying a home - it's very affordable. The thing is in the summer your air conditioning just about runs you what a house payment cost lol - it's very humid and hot in the summer. I'm from the East coast and would love to move back - but then again there's something to be said for wearing shorts in Feburary

Well, I live in Brenham..... that's half-way between Houston and Austin. The good think about Texas is you can be in "the city" OR "the country". We are considered a "small intimate town" with lots of history. I live out in the country with beautiful hills and views (our house is on a high hill - we can see the lights in Houston on a clear night... far, far off in the distance). Austin is fun but I am just not a big city gal and wouldn't want to deal with the traffic and such that comes with big city life. I think traffic in Houston is worse. My sister lives in the Dallas area and likes it. Housing costs really depend on the area and town/city. What we built our house for (about 3600 sq ft total) would only get you a little starter home in some of the city areas. Of course, have we mentioned HOT??? Yep, it's humid and hot! I'm okay with it because I hate the cold but it can be a shocker to those who aren't used to it. Good luck in your search!

it is. I just moved from there back to the Houston area - Sugar Land is about 20 mins from me and I really miss it - but it's grown ALOT

My brother has a condo there and it's really nice...I was just there last weekend and they've really done alot with the little town square

I've Lived In Waco, Texas All My Life. Not Much To Do Her But Everyone Is Pretty Nice. As For Teh Weather Here Its Always Crazy Here. You Never Know From Day To Day If Its Going To Be Hot, Cold, Or Rainy. Anyways, Good Luck! :d

Well I am in the DEEP DEEP South Texas... 30 minutes from South Padre Island.... and about 20 minutes from Arroyo City (for fishing and lodging)... and about 45 minutes from Mexico like Progresso and Matamoros,... so you get a different feel anywhere you live in Texas....

Well, not to toot our own horn, but Cedar Park is one of the top 20 fastest growing suburbs in the US, just north of Austin. I don't like Austin city life, or the traffic that comes with it, but we are close enough to the lake (which has BEAUTIFUL homes for sale all over the place!) and some state park areas that are quite relaxing. And, when I moved here, people were SO nice to me. Everyone just kept smiling, saying "welcome to Austin!" And, the motto may be "Keep Austin Weird," but you sure don't have to be to live here! I mean, I do think you need to have an open mind; you will run into many non-conservative people here, but come on, it is Texas. It will always be a conservative state! Really, you should just visit all of these places. After a visit or two, I fell in love!
