Hello Everyone...long time no chat

I have come to this wonderful site once again for some feedback. On Sunday, I noticed that the corner or Busters eye was very red and look swollen. He didnt seem to be bothered by it so I figured that since he thinks he is a vacuum cleaner and always has his face to the ground, maybe something got in it and irritated it. I look in it and couldnt see anything ? So..Monday morning...I noticed it even more... the inside of his little eye was very swollen and red. I called the vet and we took him in and they said it is something called "Cherry eye"..which is a clogged tear duct. They gave me ointment and have me applying it 2-3 times a day and said that if it is not better in 2 weeks then the only way to fix it is surgery

He lets me put the ointment in his eyes and really hasnt acted amy different or messed with his eye.... but just the thought of surgery is scaring me. Has anyone experienced this before?

I have a yorkie and an english bulldog. My bulldog is only 6 months old. She also got cherry eye this summer. It never got any better and she had surgery last month. It was very simple and she looks great. It was more traumatic for me, I think. But from what I researched and learned, you almost always need surgery. Hope this helps. My vet said that Daisy wasn't in any pain or anything, but it wasn't pretty to look at. Good luck.

My sister bought cocker puppy last year and it had Cherry eye in one eye and had surgery then a month later the other eye got it and needed surgery. It was a very easy prodecure and she has had no problems since. Good luck

I had a cocker who had it also, the surgery went fine and she looked normal again

I think it is a pretty straightforward easy procedure.
