| ![]() Miko usually sits in the kitchen while I cook, but tonight, he wasn't in there....So, I went looking for him, I found him hunched over trying to go #2, and I know this is gross, but he had a huge clump of poop on his butt that the rest wouldn't come out! It was really scary because he couldn't go...My husband immediately got him in the tub and helped him and cleaned him up. But now his butt is really red...I know awhile back someone had posted about how their doggie was constipated and how it was really red and that from the strain, their doggie's butt was sore and red and it looked almost like his insides were coming out while he was straining...I tried doing a search for this, but I couldn't find it. Can anyone please help me find it, or let me know if this is normal...His insides aren't coming out, but the redness does worry me. I wonder if there's anything I can do for him or put on him. Any input at all would be appreciated. Thanks to everyone ahead of time, Yorkieluv

| ![]() Thanks Cher and April for the prompt advice! My husband and I usually keep the hair around the anus very trim so that he doesn't get feces stuck, but I can see that it was probably growing again. He's already starting to feel and look better this morning ![]()

| ![]() Yes - you have to keep the hair around his anus trimmed so that his feces won't stick to it. When the feces stick to the little guys behind, this is what keeps him from being able to go to the bathroom. And how miserable this must be. So some rear end grooming is in order - This should solve the problem. Carol Jean |

| ![]() When this happens to one of mine, this is what you hear in my house. "Hey, bring the OraJel. Gotta do a "dookey butt bath" and then numb this hiney with good ole OraJel"..I posted once before that I use it for everything. Once the baby feels better and is clean and dry, I use any antibiotic ointment that has come from the vet.. Also, watch closely for butt-dragging so you can keep him clean and dry.. |

| ![]() Thanks everyone, that's great advice...I never thought of Orajel! That would have helped him so much since it would've numbed the area. Good Thinking...I like that "dookey butt bath." LOL I'll have to tell my hubby that, he'll get a kick out of it since that's what he had to do ![]() Miko's all better now, thank goodness, and his butt hair is definitely trimmed up again. Actually, we just gave him a short haircut all over ![]() ![]()
