Can you all give me some recommendations on which flea and tick prevention product to buy please? I'm sure this has probably been discussed elsewhere but my phone has a problem with searching this site and I have no computer. Anyway, I'm in the country and we have tons of ticks. I haven't seen any fleas so far but I imagine once it gets warmer there will be an abundance of them. Money is a concern.

Looks like you have to have a script for Nexgard.

Why do you have to have a script if they are safe for the pet? We see the new vet next week so I'll see what they say first. Oh, I guess they want to make sure your dog doesn't have heartworm first? But it seems the criteria would be the same for commercially readily available meds also.

Nice graphic. Just kidding. That makes total sense. But then the otc meds could do the same I'd guess.

| There are no otc heart worm meds so it’s not an issue.

My yorkie has seizures it was found to be from the monthly Frontline Plus and Nexgard Plus. What is safe to give them for fleas and ticks only?

I am trying to find a flea treatment that even works like it is suppose to. I used to use advantix on my chow chow and pomeranian and it worked fine, that was years ago. I used the same thing on my yorkie and 2 weeks later she has fleas. I then tried frontline plus and the same thing. For any flea shampoo to work you have to leave it on the dog for 10 minutes. That is a long time to have a dog lathered up and shaking. The only time a flea medicine has done what it is suppose to do was when the vet administered Revolution on Phoebe's first vet visit but of course that it only for puppies and as far as I know has to be administered by a vet. I hate wasting money on products that dont work, I wish there was an easy solution.
