| Since I got my 5 year old I have had several issues. but we finally cleared up quite a bit. We found out he had a rather large bladder stone filling up most of his bladder. he had surgery and had it removed. now since he has been home he has been on a urinary tract food and I have been worried about him loosing wieght so I let him eat as he pleases, but he is only around 3.4-4 pounds now. My issue is every time I step outside to his cage when he eats, there is litterally tons of poop. I have a 30 pound labradoodle as well and im not even going to exaggerate, but he poops more than she does every day. is this normal? namely my garage has turned into a minefield with little presents everywhere. I should also add that since he has been on this food his bm's are explosive and much lighter in color and the smell is much more foul. I took him outside a few mornings ago he ran around the side of my fiances car and it sounded like a whoopie cushion was going off. he managed to even get it on my garage door. Im happy hes gaining weight since hes had so many issues, but I cant imagine its good for him to be pooping this much. |

| Donating YT 10K Club Member | How often is he truely going? Don't say tons. How many times a day? If he is really pooping that much...it's because the food isn't the greatest quality and his body is eliminating it because it can not use it for fuel

| Urinary diets do serve a purpose, but some are very high in fat and yorkies sometimes don't do well. I'd talk to your vet before the next feeding.

| I also agree that it's the food. Since he has health issues I would also suggest contacting your vet.

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm confused too, is he allowed to just pooping wherever he wants in the garage? Have you tried housebreaking him? Crate training works fairly fast on older dogs, but you have to take them out of the crate every couple of hours at first and take them to the place where they can poop. I would ask the vet about changing his food.

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I didn't understand the wording "every time I step outside to his cage" - what does that mean? If you keep him outside...there would be so many things I'd be worrying about, but for now I'll focus on the poo thing bc if you DO keep him outside - one thing I'd bc concerned about is intestinal parasites...he should have a fecal done if you're keeping him outside. As far as the poo in general - he almost sounds as if he is having 'fatty stools' - and that is not good or normal. Explosive, voluminous, foul, light colored stools are absolutely not normal - definitely speak with your vet and either switch to another appropriate food ASAP, or, take him in to be seen. The fact that's he having bad gas is another clue - there is clearly some major irritation going on in GI system, and it's probably very uncomfortable for him; there could be ingredients that just are not suitable for his system. Was he a rescue, since you got him at age 5? I hope you can find a solution for him. He sounds like a real sweetie and I bet his life would be a whole lot happier without all the digestive distress. Your life too !
