Help please -info on pining..

My husband and I are going away for two mths to Australia March/April. I am so worried about leaving my precious Hollie who will be 8mths old. We are going to meet my new Grandson and my older son will be celebrating his 40TH! Luckily we had them young and are young enough and fit to travel. If only we could take our babies with us. We decided on a trail run and have gone away to the maintains -1 and a half hrs from home. My son moves in and looks after them. We call him our dog whisperer. We are so blessed to have him. So far all good. Its been 3 days. she has been to the beach and out for breakfast. Has any one had this experience Please? will she pine?? Thank-you Ave x

She may miss you for a bit, but if your son is in tune with her moods and can keep her busy she should do fine. She will be overly excited when you return home. Have a safe and happy trip!

Thank-you for your advice. . . We made the week and Hollee was fine when we got home. Very excited to see us as you said but soon got on with playing with Lucy our dachie.
She did keep her eye on me ...X AVE

Mostly they don't pine, I don't think, if they are left with someone who keeps their life pretty stable and interesting and a lot of them seem to enjoy the change. My sons lives a completely different life from me in every, single way and when I had hip surgery and he kept Tibbe, I saw a running video library of all these different things Danny and his dog, Tex, and Tibbe were doing each day. Tibbe was having the absolute time of his life. In all of the video's, his ears were up, his tail up, his eyes shining and he was fully participating in everything! My Jilly often stayed with my sister and her husband and she seemed to do just fine every time I left town and she would WHINE as we were leaving Billie's house to go home! Unless the change is stressful or scary or something, most of these little Yorkies seem to make hay out of their own little "vacation" away from their usual and routine life. Not to say they aren't very, very, very happy to get back home and settled in mommie's lap when it's all over, though.

I puppy sit my daughter's yorkie and she does mine. They both seem to adapt to the new house situation. Actually when my daughter and her hubby sleep over at my house her dog prefers to sleep in our room in a dog bed rather than with her mommy and daddy. I think they just get used to the environment. Deuce loves to stay at their house because they have different "TOYS". He has to take everyone out. Their little yorkie just watches him.

I think when you may have issues is when they are left with someone they do not consider "family"...someone they know is around momma and daddy and is accepted in the family circle....I think your baby will be just fine with your son taking care of things!
