Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | ![]() Hey guys! Question for ya. I meant to ask my vet at our appointment Friday and I forgot. We have an appointment for her rabies shot in 2 weeks, and I will ask then, but until then....about how much food should Katie Scarlett be eating each day? She is a little over 14 weeks, almost 15 weeks. She weighs 2.8 pounds. We are keeping her on the food the breeder had her on, which is the Royal Canin 28 Yorkshire Terrier Puppy formula. She gobbles it right up, so I think she enjoys her food. About how much should she be eating right now? I am just free feeding right now. We will start a schedule on down the road, but right now I just want to make sure she gets enough to eat. She didn't seem to eat much her first few days with us, but now she does pretty good. I'd say she has anywhere from 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of the dry kibble each day. Is that too much, too little? We also have a little spoon full of plain yogurt each day, another thing my breeder said I needed to do. She loves that. No treats as of right now. I tried giving her treats that I had and she won't eat them. I don't think she likes them. I'm going to try something else, maybe Cheerios or the Sweet Potato Puffs for babies this week. Maybe some fresh carrots too to see if she will like those. We give her the purified Nursery water, as much as she'd like. Am I doing ok or do I need to make changes? She is a very happy puppy, always active and ready to play. She hasn't whined at night when it's bed time at all, not even the first night. We are still shocked that she hasn't cried at night. She has barked a few times, but it's during the day when we are at play. I let her bark once or twice, but then am working on teaching her 'enough.' Thanks for any help/advice! ![]()

| ![]() Hi. At the pet store today, I saw a recommended amount for all ages. I know that a 6 - 8 month can have anywhere from 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup a day depending on the type of food. Other sites I've explored seem to think 1/4 cup - 1/2 cup is the way to go for younger Yorkies as well. I'm sure others will come along with a more concrete response. |

| ![]() Is there a chart some where? I wass wondering the same thing. The vet recommended 1/4 cup a day when Brutus was 2.5lbs, but now he weighs 4 - I am not sure when to start increasing his food. Since I am still mixing his ID food and dry, he is probably eating closer to 1/2 cup a day in 3 meals, but I don't want to over feed him either.

| ![]() Well im not going to be that much help, but Kaos eats 1/2 cup once a day of RC at 4.5-5lbs as an adult. As far as I can remember he ate about that same amount, just divided up into more feedings. Hopefully a more experienced yorkie parent will give you better info. ![]()

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() When Taycie was about that size she ate 1/4 cup twice a day so 1/2 cup daily.. I do bring her to work with me so when she was little I split it up between 3 meals.. Usually her "lunch" meal I just gave her out of my hand as a treats ![]() I think I would just watch her poop, activity level and weight.. if everything looks good and she is continually gaining weight at each vet appointment right now then you are doing great!
