![]() I have a 12 week old Yorkie mix baby. She has had the runs and has been on Meds to stop it. She is now feeling great but I don't agree with the way the Vet thinks I should feed her. She said 2 times a day and I think she should free feed! What do you all think? Thanks in advance, Char

| ![]() Free feed is the best but if your going to do scheduled feedings 3-4 times a day. With a pup your not worried about the gaining of weight like you may have to with an adult so free feeding mat nit be best for an overweight adult. With pups you have to keep their blood sugar up

![]() At 12 weeks, most clinical nutritional guidelines state that pups should be fed at a minimum of 3 times a day, if not more. Their stomachs are very small and they burn kcalories at a higher rate than an adult dog. I personally believe in free feeding kibble. I have always done it with all of mine and never had a problem with their weight. What rationale did the vet give you for two feedings? Is there some outstanding medical issue still going on?

![]() She is doing great and seems very hungry. I thought I was feeding Kinsey 4 times a day when she was a baby because she ate small amounts and needed to be fed more often. I actually didn't get to talk to the vet, Just the gal at the front desk. I told her that she was under 5 lbs but it didn't seem to matter to her. So I fed her 4 times a day anyways and she is still doing fine. I guess I just needed to be sure she could be fed more often. Thanks! Hugs, Char

![]() Thanks ladies, I kind of thought Mia should be fed more often. Four times a day sounded right to me so that is what I am doing amd she is doing fine. Today she didn't want her Kibbles. Just wanted the I/D canned food. But I am sure she will get back to the kibbles soon.
