Luxating Patella (trick knee)

Keno is having trouble with his rear right leg. He has Luxating Patella in both rear legs but the right is the worse. He will need surgery on it when he reaches growth maturity. When I contacted the breeder, she stated she did not know what Luxating Patella was, and that none of her dogs or puppies have had any problems. Sure and I have a bridge I will sell her cheap. I am so fed up with breeders who breed dogs knowing they carry congenital hereditary disorders. Not only do they not disclose the problems they lie and say they have never had the problem before. This breeder is selling puppies that she knows have this hereditary disorder. She should be stopped. She breeds for profit with no regard for the health of her puppies. I have filed a complaint Pet Law Complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services asking for refund of my purchase money to be used toward the cost of surgery for Keno.

I'm sorry that Keno has LP. Lots of yorkies have LP and it is not always genetic. LP can occur sporadically in toy breeds. Also, just because he has LP does not mean he needs surgery. My dog Daisy who is almost 11 years old now had surgery for one LP but not the other. Both are hereditary grade 4 severe cases. She runs and jumps and has the time of her life. Surgery is a last resort.
